šŸˆ Auburn officials decide to retain Harsin

The water seems to be circling the bowl with Harsin bobbing for air. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s fired in the coming days. In any case, I doubt he’s going to keep his job very long and the train wreck that’s Auburn football will once again go looking for a savior. Perhaps they could hire Flores to right the ship (sarcasm).

I don't see how he can make it past Monday... the train is too far down the tracks at this point. He ain't walking away though, and unless they can prove he had happy hours with the former cheer gal, they are on the hook for a mighty large buyout which the university can't afford and the boosters don't want to pay. They aren't going to be able fire him for cause for "being mean".

Sure they can afford it...
How can they NOT.......

Dang I was hoping they were going to keep him around just like Ol Gus. Still no clue how that bunch played bama so well this year. Really outplayed us for 58 minutes of the game. Anyway that bunch must have something up their sleeve. They have been known to go courting another coach while the one they have is still employed. Same leadership (I use that term loosely) making decisions about the athletic program.

I can't see why any coach with any other choices would even think about taking the Auburn job at this point. They need to post the position at the Alabama Unemployment Office if they drop Harsin now. Or just give it to Nix.
Agree but I think the same thing about players and coaches but they keep going down to the cow pasture to coach and play. Common sense is not very common...

Multiple auburn reporters are now saying that "racism" is an angle being explored by those that want him gone. Seems like a mighty steep hill to climb seeing as how some current black players came out and publicly and supported him today. Add to that, why now? A serious charge like that is something that should/would be handled ASAP, not on the backend of a good ole boys pow-wow summit when they're trying to get a guy fired while navigating around an enormous buyout. Minus some serious hard and credible evidence, it reeks of desperation. It also, true or not, torpedoes Harsin's career if they go that route. They don't just get him fired, they ruin him. They'd be fools to think he wouldn't take the fight to the courtroom which is the last place auburn (or any SEC school) wants to end up. Lastly, as alluded to by @rocknthefreeworld, it further poisons the auburn well for the next hire. Who in their right mind would want to follow this, seeing what could happen to them as well if they have a bad year, or piss off the men behind the curtain? Have to assume they already feel they have their guy locked up (Steele?) or they wouldn't be this far down the road with Harsin, but the damage this would leave behind would turn the loveliest village into Chernobyl.

Just texted with a friend who is an auburn fan and booster. Asked him his thoughts... he's basically torn. Isn't a big fan of Harsin, doesn't think he's cut out for the SEC. But he hates the old Dye/Rane faction who constantly meddles and will only gain more power if they get their way with this. He said that from his perspective, Harsin is actually starting to build a bit of a support wave within the fanbase and he thinks the longer this drags on, the bigger that wave will get. Said that may be the thing that ends up saving his job, and that it's probably the only thing.
