Most, if not all, of you have probably already seen and read the info that the staff has already posted on the forums regarding our planned upgrade of the site here.
For those that have not read that material, here you go.
RollTideBama.com is planning an upgrade.
There, now we're all filled in.
Bottom line, Terry and Lance have been working behind the scenes to get this going, and I was asked to fill everyone in on the specifics.
First let me just say that the staff here have been working overtime in an attempt to get this upgrade going, and they deserve a pat on the back for their efforts. When we go to the new format I know that everyone will love it. Just remember to give the staff an occasional "at a boy" for their efforts.
Why do we do this? We do it because our vision has always been to be the best BAMA forum on the internet. We're not the biggest, and probably never will be, but that's fine with us. We just want to be the best. We have the best members, and we have the best staff. Soon we'll have the best asthetics, bells, whistles, formatting, and functions. Obviously we're excited about it, and our members deserve it. We hope that you all enjoy what is about to come for RollTideBama.com.
Down Time
I'm sure the number one question on everyone's mind is .... what does this mean for me and my access to the site? The upgrade will begin taking place this Sunday at 10:00 AM and will/should be completed by Sunday evening. Having said that, you never know if it may take longer. We've upgraded in the past and we know that delays can happen. Hopefully they will not, and this will be a smooth, seamless transition.
Registration/Member Status
Nothing should change. No one should have to re-register for anything with the new template. No one's post counts should be lost.
New Platform Info
Without getting too specific, I'll just let everyone know that the new format will be all-encompassing. It will be much easier for people to access all of RTB.com's features. We encourage all members to make the front page their gateway, and not the forums. The front page will have a wealth of BAMA information in itself, but will also serve as the waypoint, or nav point for accessing the forums, the CrimsonTusks Blog, and the other various apps and features that we will install.
We will be including apps for iPhones and Blackberries. Members will be getting even more video from sites such as ESPN and Sportsline.
Sports chat will likely be confined to one central forum, while other forums will be combined or axed alltogether.
Recruiting will have a seperate forum.
Again, without going into too much detail, this is what people should expect. We hope everyone enjoys the changes being implimented. If anyone has a question please feel free to private message a staff member. Thanks.
