I want it, but the real thing just likes coke! :D On ebay for $300.00 for a not real one. Come on, yes I know someone will. Real or not that a thing of beauty. Do any of you guys know what the cost of the real one will cost for each to make?

I saw that picture a few weeks ago. At the time, my gut told me the timing wasn't right for that being the official ring.

Might be wrong here ... but I'm thinking that's just a ring someone designed, posted, and it went into a "Bama-viral" stage.

I think you're right. Usually the team designs the ring (since it's not part of the official game booty). Maybe they've changed it and the game gives out a ring just like many bowl games do.

The last 3 Bama NC games had an official NC ring from the BCS as well as a team designed ring. Ohio State received a ring from the College Football Playoffs, a Big Ten ring, and a school designed NC ring last year. The Playoff ring looks very similar to this ring.

They will get three rings, so this could be one of them.
In December of '14, the Playoff committee released an image through Twitter of what the first ring would look like. I want to say it was around the middle of December—I know it was after the SECCG. I looked a few days before the Bama game with MSU and couldn't find anything on whether the CFBPC had released an image for this year. I looked again when I saw that picture the OP posted and still couldn't find anything.

Ohio State revealed their rings in May of last year. That makes the timing of this picture a little suspect, in my opinion.

On a side note: I noticed a Tweet the other day where Saban was in his office with a recruit. I think it may have been Mack. There were four boxes on his table where he displays the NC rings leaving me wondering what was in the fourth box.

i've heard rumors (take that for what it's worth) that he keeps his ring from lsu on display as well.

here's an image:

you can tell from the pic that three of the four are from 'BAMA. but the third box (counting from left) is the one about which i'm unsure. it could possibly be a "third of three" to go with the 2 rings in the fourth box. although i'm not sure as to why they wouldn't be displayed in the same box.

Well the day you get a star player's ring for $400, let me know. Same with a Super Bowl ring at face value, let me know.
I think you misinterpreted his post. @Che Boludo was referring to what is allowed on the cost of the rings by NCAA. To spend $4K on a player replica would be getting ripped. Now you may in fact buy one from a player later on for $4K.

My SEC ring from the '89 season cost around $250-300 then. My dad wanted to buy one for himself and when I asked, that was what I was told. Mom put the kabash on that idea!
