🏈 Any Improvements Or Wrinkles Needed For Bama To Win Title ?

Does any one facet have to improve for Bama to bring it home, or can they line'em up right now and get it done ?

Coker makes me extremely uneasy. I feel as though this team is really lucky to be where they are with him under center. Yall can accept all these miraculous catches by our WR's as the standard if you want to, but I dont feel comfortable expecting a WR to climb the ladder and come down with a pass twice a game in order to win.

Coker may also be the luckiest QB in the history of college football relative to all the gift wrapped pick 6's opposing defenses have dropped this year. I cant recall a QB ever seemingly getting away with one INT per game.

These other teams left in the playoffs have good QB's, and they can also play D so IMO Coker is gonna have to clean it up. That slow motion release of his coupled with his tendency to float the ball for some reason that I still dont understand may get Bama in some trouble here in the playoff.

Drake has got to settle his ass down, and concentrate on ball security. Anyone paying attention can see he is a turnover waiting to happen.

Would be nice to see one of these RB's step up behind HTWDH.

And of course as always the obligatory get OJ Howard more involved.

Call more pass plays that target 15-25 yards downfield - especially on third and long. We need to stop getting ultraconservative on 3rd & 10+. Let Jake throw his laser downfield, and stop relying on deep rainbows for our downfield pass game.
I have a lot of faith in Jake, and think he's really underrated. He's made huge plays all year

Also, as others have mentioned, get Henry involved on the screen game! I remember him torching Oklahoma on screen passes 2 years ago

I really feel bad for Jake Coker. The guy has played with more heart and determination than anyone on our team. He isn't a bad QB at all. He has done everything asked of him and been incredibly clutch when required. He has executed the game plan as requested and done an excellent job of getting us into the right plays. There have been countless times he seems to be the only one knowing what's going on trying to get people into position to do their job. He's no Heisman winner, but he gets the job done. Unfortunately an unreasonably large contingent decided before he took his first snap of the season that he wouldn't be good enough for them and have created increasingly grasping ways to demean his contributions. Fortunately the team seems to value him more than these fans. This persistent bit about his long release and poor decision making is overblown. Any post that mentions these and does not also mention the sub-par pass protection he has received this year instantly betrays itself as someone who is more concerned with demeaning his contributions than adhering to reality.

We get ultra conservative on 3rd and 10+ for a reason. You have the most dominating defense in college football and a prett damn good punter that can pin an opponent inside the 10! Saban does not want chances taken for that very reason.

I think this is it.... but still.... why not try the screen on 3rd and 10..... see what Henry can do, in space. With a little head of steam! AND, since OJ can't block worth a crap, send him down the seam on 3rd and 10 and see if the LB can cover him!!!

Well I understand your sentiment and you are right in thinking that we have a large minority of fans that are assholes and very vocal on how shitty they think Coker is... but this isnt some uncommon think for our fanbase. The most popular player on the team has always been the backup QB (and sometimes backup RB) and Sims was much maligned last year, hell there are some guys on here that will still throw salt at Blake's name regardless of the countless records he broke last year in taking a team that wasn't supposed to be as good as it was to the Playoffs.

With that said Coker does throw at least one or two bone head throws that he shouldnt make every game, but that comes with his confidence and gun slinger attitude. You just have to kinda live with it.

Coker needs to manage the game and keep them honest on Defense, if he doesn't make big mistakes and plays Jay Barker like, we will be fine. Doses of Henry and Drake, with Ridley and Stewart getting theirs and in my opinion get the ball to OJ a little more I like our chances. Defensively the D-backs scare me sometimes but the D-line is making up for it, stop the Run keep the QB in the box like we have done most of the year and we beat MSU.
