Every single year, the media hypes up that cult. Haven't they seen this movie before? Every preseason it's "auburn is loaded. They hardly lost anybody from last year. The schedule sets up nicely for them to be undefeated headed into the Iron Bowl. Their QB will be a Heisman candidate. They just hired the best offensive mind in the business. Watch out! This year will be magical!!" Then they lose a game and that's the cult leader's cue. "We are young. The future is bright". One year, the bus will declare he is taking over all the play calling. Then the next year, he is turning it over to the latest offensive guru he hired. They will make some garbage bowl. Birmingham, Belk, Music City, Independence, etc. They will rack up some points against some pushover and declare that Gus has finally "figured it out" and "next year should be the year". Rinse and repeat.
