🏈 GAME THREAD 🏈 The 2026 Bowl Games / CFB Playoffs: Indiana v. Miami

it seems like the program is churning right along: it's where we should expect it to be going into year three.
I do not think we are where we should be personally. I do think are you and I are finally aligned that it takes time and we were not just going to pick up and win NC in year one post Saban. You know I have always said one year does not measure success. See what happens in a sustained way. Folks believe there was going to be zero drop off day one, just silly thinking.

Back to where things stand going into year three... My biggest concern is culture and core play that sustains elite play on the field... I recall when it dawned on my how well coach Sabans teams were and it was on a screen play where the OL had released the DL and every DL stopped and rotated to the screen at the same time. I knew then they were well prepared to recoginize immediately what was happening. Other things I look for is how physical the team is on the line of scrimmage which you can normally tell by how well we stop the run and how well we run the ball.

On the culture concern, that is about their competitive character and the pride they take in how they play which motiviates how hard you prepare and play. This will turn into wins but you can have wins w/o it but it will not sustain elite level play consistently (within a season or across multiple seasons).

Well. I concur. The culture thing. Man o man.
How do build a culture with ur players coming n going every year.
As a coach. You cant count on anything. The focus is on money.
Probably see a group of different highly sponsored teams every year

How do you do it with NIL? Well some coaches seem to have figured it out so if they can then coaches at Bama should be able to. Nothing another program does or will ever do should be something you should not be able to do at Bama. Bama has done it multiple time across multiple eras as you know.

Laptop or tablet? Which one you prefer.
Several years ago I decided I'd switch over to a tablet for work. I thought it would be easier to tote around; it was.

Within two or three weeks I'd purchased a keyboard. Within two or three months I was back to the laptop.

Isn't today's tablet just a bigger phone? 🙃 (It really is with Wi-Fi calling.)

I'm with you on this. I have Samsung 25 ultra. I can literally sign documents with Pen on my phone and I can do a lot on here that I can do on laptop . I have Samsung tablet side of laptop and I purchased keyboard with it. It's good for travel and vacation. Then I have hp laptop I just use for research when I'm outside on porch or typing up document. In my office I have hp computer I pretty use whenever I want to work in office and watch movies and just chill. I'm all over the place.

About the same thing I do now (in leisure time.) The format has changed. 20 years ago I'd read more than a handful of newspaper in a days time when taking a little break. I do the same now it's just not a "real" newspaper.

Exception: I still get editions of County Highway.

Oh my tablet can call out. Wi-Fi calling

His will as well. He just doesn't know how to set it up. If he goes through his phone everything will/can run through the tablet. IE: I have text messages sent to one laptop.

The one thing I don't have is a watch...and that ain't happening.

Funny. Bell who was staying with me and my wife for the weekend made a comment about our tvs in the house. We were leaving to grab dinner and she asked us why do we have 8 tvs in the house. I thought about that and I had no answer for that.

Lol. Thats the truth.
We have 5. And ...except for Landman....there still aint shit to watch ( once football season is over anyway).

I remember when my Sports Illustrated and ,Bama mags came in every month...
Was almost like someone writing me a letter. Find a quiet place and read cover to cover.

And to.....aint warn a watch since 60s...

But...house filled with Alexa...XM in all vehicles...directv ( soon departing)..wifi and .half dozen apps on tvs...2 over air antennas...500 + channels...still nothing worth watching
..2 steps forward...2 steps backward

Take note. They are not TV's. They are monitors. You have eight monitors that happened to be able to carry video signals.

If you watch a YouTube video on how to repair something are you watching TV?

I was talking about a smart watch. NY day, two years ago, I turned the ringer off on my phone and haven't turned it back on since. If I don't see it's ringing, or don't see a text come in, I won't know until I check. I don't carry it around when I'm at home. Why would I want a smart watch, ya know?

By the way, turning the ringer off? One of my best decisions, period.

there still aint shit to watch
Simply not true. There is so much to watch it can be frustrating finding something because of all the choices. And knowing where some of the things are. I glanced at this earlier to see if something caught my eye. Free, through a free app, running through a $30 Chromecast to a monitor. Front page.

WAY too much for me.
