🏈 🏈 PRE-GAME Thread: Alabama visits Texas A&M

How many more years does Jimbo get? Anything can happen, but I do not feel they beat us this weekend or keep it close. I hope Coach uses this game to challenge our offensive line since they do have a solid defensive front. Make sure we can run the ball when we want, set up the pass. Spiller will be a good back to challenge our defense, but one man can't beat us.

Good question.....
I remember a lot of coaches fired because they couldnt beat bama ( andthe BEAR)...years ago...

NS is building such a bridge....

I didn't say he did it because he knew he couldn't make it, I was pointing out that the fact that they DIDN"T convert 4th and 1 to ice the game, behind their strongest part of the OL, is a reason to be not totally satisfied coming out of the OM game.

I just started reading "Fourth and Goal Every Day". I'll share it in the book thread.

But not for the reason ...of making a point...
And you posted "Saban did that on purpose”

...theres alot of things he wasn't satisfied about...his words...but over all satisfied..he was...
They go thru video...and point out a lot the players can improve on...standard procedure

I doubt he called the play...seriously doubt it...
But they didnt give oOM 7 points for stopping 4 n 1....
OM still had to move ball n score...and did

But really....so what

I have to agree with @NickelDoubleDog here, in a sense.

How often have you heard players and coaches talk about how prepared Saban is for every situation that comes into a game?

4th and 1, with that field position? That was planned before the game if they ended up in that situation.

Am sure they had a sheet on “4th and 1”
But wasnt run to fail...strong on strong...

But didnt run same play on all “4th and 1s”..
On of options...thats all...so O line got beat by Dline...

We know Nick is prepared for " almost " every situation... has good assistants and demands attention to detail...

But didnt run same play on all “4th and 1s”..
They weren't the same scenarios. 4 and 1 from mid-field is the play being discussed.

They had a 4th and about 10 with the pass to Billingsley from inside the 40. A fourth down to Latu for a TD, another to BRob running. When BRob scored and when they didn't covert the 4th down being discussed, both plays were overloading the left, Billingsley in motion, and attacking the gap.

The point is. Never run same play

But. Honestly. I cant remember what road we were on before another Alabama detour

Their offense has secretly been practicing the Grateful Spread.

(My apologies, Mando.)
I love some Grateful Dead. What was the South Carolina QB that beat us in 2010?

they were national championship caliber, and all of this was coming from their head coach. And you mention "rat poison?
So how has that rat poison working out for them? Not very well I would say. That is why we do not need any of it. Hard to compare Bama and A&M understandably but seems like it is best for this young Bama team to avoid smoke being blown up their back sides.

You're still not getting the point.

He went for it ON PURPOSE, to prove a point either way. Get the 4th and 1, and the game is over before OM gets the ball again. Fail, and the D has to answer the bell again. In reality, the D got a stop, but was called for a bogus PI, so OM got a score.

It's all a teaching point. The offense was given a chance to prove a point - they could run it when OM knew the run was coming, and still get a yard and seal the game.

They didn't. I expect that leaves a sour taste in the team's mouth, which is good in a game still won by a blowout margin.
