First off, this is my first post here. Finally decided to make an account after lurking for forever. Good to be here

Ok my rant is Alabama was #1 at the end of the regular season, was undefeated, and then lost their only game in a conference championship game in basically the 4th quarter. And what is their reward? At this point it looks like they're playing Utah. UTAH!!!. Alabama is basically playing a girl. If they win, nobody cares. If they lose, we'll be the butt of the joke.


Sure, the Texas situation is arguable, but at the very least, at this point it looks like they're probably gonna play Ohio St in the Fiesta Bowl. That is going to be a great matchup.

This is messed up IMO. They need to do something about this. Put Bama in the Rose Bowl against USC and put Penn St against Utah. I dont give a crap if the Rose Bowl is P10 vs B10, and I doubt most people do anymore. It will never happen, but Alabama got stuck by a sawed of broom in all this.


Sorry about the vent but I had to get it off my chest. But with all that said, I'm proud of this team and what they've done. Lets take care of business with Utah and pound them all over New Orleans and get our Sugar Bowl win!

The BCS has nothing to do with us getting the shaft. It has to do with $$$$$$$$$$ and lots of it. All other sports in the land use a playoff system.

I hope eventually that will happen, however until then this is what it is.

I bet Utah's fan base would have traveled better if it had been selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl.

I guess that just means more Sugar Bowl tickets for Bama fans than it would have if the Tide had been pitted against Ohio State or Texas.

I sort of agree with you Utah don't belong on the same field with Alabama but on the other hand the BCS guaranteed a Bama win in this game.

I can't wait to see your reaction when that girl punches your tide in the mouth. Not one to bring big smack to another board but I can't help it. Regardless of what the myopic SEC fanbase thinks of the Utes, they have proven the belong. They've beat multiple BCS teams over the years and need I mind you this is our 2nd BCS bowl in 5 years, a feat very few teams even from the BCS conferences can claim. I know we haven't beaten any SEC teams in that span, but it's not our fault you guys hide away in the SEC scheduling only the teams you KNOW you can beat.

I assure you, Utah would play a series with ANY SEC team if they would have the balls to travel west of the Mississippi. This year the MWC is rated the 3rd best conference next to the SEC and the Big 12, so it's not as if we're the MAC or WAC. I've been to a game Birmingham and had a great time, I respect your program but the atitude some of you have is deplorable. The 2nd to worst team in the MWC traveled to SEC land and beat Tennessee, granted it's a poor year for the Vols, but it's an example that even our crappy teams are as good or better than the SEC lower teams.

If your team has one tenth the arrogance the bama fans do, this should be a fun game for Ute fans as I assure you, this Ute team is better than any team you've played aside from Florida.

As for Bama being screwed EVERYBODY knew if they lost to Florida the likely match up would be the Sugar bowl against the Utes. You made your own bed, now lie in it.

For reference, we took around 50,000 to the 2004 Fiesta Bowl. However, the TV revenues play a lot into the decision, and OSU/TX is simply a better draw.

Trust me, a lot of us were hoping for the Fiesta as well. It would probably have been financially doable (drive vs. flight, stay with friends, etc.). New Orleans, not so much.

Yeah, that is why we schedule Clemson, a top 10 preaseason team as the season opener. And in the last several years we have had home and home with UCLA and Oklahoma, so that argument is out the window buddy.

FWIW, Utah is the #7 team in the BCS, & Bama is the #4 team. With the parity now found in the current CFB landscape, even the "no name" schools can be very good. The line opened @ Bama minus 11 pts., I believe, so it could be a tight ball game. At any rate, it is what it is.

If I know CNS, I wouldn't necessarily want to be Utah & be playing the Tide right now. I have no idea how well the Utes will travel, but I can bet you Bama will be more than well represented at the game.

I like to run my mouth, while at the LSU Vs Bama game a few years back with some Bama alum buddies I had a blast talking trash to all the LSU fans, sucks Bama lost though. Oh I'll be in the big easy with a group of Ute/Bama friends talking smack to anybody who will listen. I don't cross lines, I just like to banter. Why do I come here and do it? Well, again I like banter, it's fun to respond to myopic closed minded posts.

fair enough. Well, hopefully it's a good football game in New Orleans. My boss is an Air Force grad and a huge Mountain West guy always saying what a tough conference it is...so needless to say, I don't want to lose to Utah and listen to him dawg me forever.

Yo dude, You have to see yourself in our shoes. What if Bama was a non-BCS conference team and didn't traditionally play teams (often) that win NC's or big bowl games and Utah was ranked #4 and played the likes of (not going by your geographic) Florida, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, etc. You would probably be mad, right? you're team deserved a higher opponent!


ON THAT NOTE! nobody in the bama fan base will take this game lightly (maybe now but not when it gets time to actually play the game). I certainly wont.

I admit! I am kind of pissed that we are playing your team, but at the same time I'm taking the approach Saban takes and wants us to take - SHOW UP! I mostly likely wont be at the game unless a miracle happens, but I'll show up mentally and in spirit cheering for my team and not taking it lightly. Utah has a chance to prove us wrong and stay undefeated, Bama has a chance to go 13-1 and win the sugar bowl under Saban's 2nd season.

YES! you got it. A Bama Texas matchup would be epic. It would have plenty of storyline. Texas, who beat BOTH of the teams who played in the Big12 CG, pitted against Bama whose only loss is to Florida and is still out to prove to everyone outside this state that they are overachievers, not overrated. Plus, Bama has never beaten Texas. Wow, that would be one of the most watched bowls of the season next the CG itself.
