While I was watching Duke playing Clemson the other night my eyes were constantly drawn to the Tiger Paw versus the action on the court. If it's not a logo the size of a tennis court, is a mountainous background paint from foul line to foul line. Gosh, give me "The Garden" and the beaten up parquet floor!

Now there's rumor that the league is (behind closed doors) testing glass, LED playing surfaces. Am I looking at watching the "Green Wave" play ball on a court that looks like this, but it's green!? (The image on the right 'sorta' looks like water/waves/bubbles.)

AT some point, will someone say, "QUIT!"

(And, I gotta say, I do think this idea would be GREAT in a practice facility. IE: The way CNO uses the leagues' arc versus the distance for college.)

Way back in the day, Rudd Jr High School in Pinson, had a tile gym floor that was a glossy finish blue I think. Fultondale High School, who I played against and then coached for, had a blue vinyl floor with orange stripes. UGLY as HELL!!

Oh man. Two floors I remember, distincitively, are carpet and tile. It was a school in Florence that had kitchen tile down for their floor. The room also served as the cafeteria. Pretty neat gym, really, Two stories (upper had classrooms) and you could watch the games from the balcony. I could NOT get a grip on that surface. I remember coach putting down a wet towel we could wipe out shoes on just to get a little grip...almost went to a four corners offense in that game it was so bad.

The second...a low pile carpet. I can't remember where that school was. I do remember having a very hard time dribbling that night. There's such a difference in surfaces and it's my opinion hearing the ball bounce has a lot to do with ball control. I couldn't hear it.

(FWIW, home court was made with cork they put a new coat of poly on each year.)

But on the floor for the Big12 tourney...

Granted, I was under the influence a bit ... but that floor, and then the yellow shoes mixed with the pink shoes. I'm trying to watch positioning and those damn colors...geez, it made it an impossible watch.
 
I remember playing on a hard carpet floor court back in the day. At that time, it was a new concept (don't think it caught on). You could barely hear the ball hitting the floor when you dribbled. You don't realize how much your hearing does for the muscle memory of dribbling a basketball until your spazing out trying to dribble without being able to hear the dribble. I believe it was at Valley Middle school just outside of Jasper. Also played on a rubber court too, rough taking a charge as you didn't skid like the hardwood courts. šŸ˜¬ :p I believe that one was at Oak Grove High, if I remember right.
