| FTBL Alabama's pass rush....

I know all about the 3-4.

Remember, we play one too.

That actually makes it that much more important that your DL CAN get pressure... if you can pressure with 3, you're going to take away that intermediate passing game.

Bring one LB, you're still sitting pretty.

Anyway, thought it was a good question, and got some pretty good responses.

Just thought your post dripped with good old fashioned eternal unrealistic optimism... "We'll be better because last year is over!"

Everybody does it. Even Clemson fans... and I laugh at them too.

Actually tiger your group has much more to prove than Bama. It's long been past the time that y'all should have done something other than start out hot then fade like a distant memory.

I don't see anything wrong with expecting to be better than last year when the players replacing the ones that are now gone are physically better. It's not like we didn't have one sack last season. We still got sacks but not like we should have. Much of that was due from just lack of size and depth. Both of which is now not a problem. So logical thinking tells you we will be better because the above mentioned problems are no longer problems.

If your DL cares what a lowly internet poster like myself thinks

y'all are sh*t out of luck, lol

Gotta love the off-season... where hope spings eternal and you never have any weaknesses.

Hell, I'm convinced our OL will dominate you guys. I know we lost three starters off last season's mediocre line... but guess what.. that was LAST YEAR.

:)

You are convinced that the OL will dominate?

Let me get this straight, you lost 3 starters off a mediocre line and you are convinced that you will dominate?

I thought you actually had good arguments for awhile, but after you say something crazy like that...I don't think I can take anything you say seriously anymore.

I think you missed the

Apparently I did.

Was asking about HOW you'd get one, considering your relative struggles last year and losing your best pass rusher.

Thought it was a legit question. Onto the monster DT you guys signed...

Let me insert the following caveats

A)He is a massive human being with freakish strength.
B) He might end up being a dominant force
C) By virtue of his genetics he is almost automatically a run stopper
D) What I'm about to say is not meant to disrespect anybody...

But Cody was a three star, moderately recruited kid that got only one other big time offer (Tennessee).

In JUCO, playing against middle-tier competition, he registered 3.5 sacks (not bad at all, but not world beating either).

What I see in that video, with all due respect, is a massive guy going against some run of the mill high school offensive linemen. What I don't see is him doing mush pass rushing... is there even a single pass play in that highlight vid you posted?

Maybe you guys were just trying to show off a freakish human being that is one of your recruits. If so, maybe I'm taking your posts too seriously. If this is the case... he is huge, and will be fun to watch.

However if in fact you're suggesting that a true frosh, however massive he is, is going to be the answer for your lack of a pass rush, might I just suggest.... maybe not.

These aint 6 foot 240 pound white kids he was going against at Riverdale.

Cody only played one year of HS football...that is why he was a 3 star. He was a 4 star coming out of Juco. Generally, a NT is not a pass rushing specialist, rather he is a run stopper and disruptive force in the middle. The size and strength of Cody resulted in a lot of QB rollouts in Juco, padding the sack numbers of their DE's. The MCGCCC Bulldogs were undefeated in 2007 and won the National Championship (co-champs). Cody was a first team All-American at Juco level - an impressive feat in itself, and not just a "3 star" that was lightly recruited. Coming out of Juco, anyone in the country would have loved to have signed him.

Additionally, he is a good kid...and very much a kid.

That's exactly what I was about to say. Thanks for saying it for me big fan, so I didn't have to type all that out and hurt myself from thinking too hard. :p

Lawdy's right. Political correctness has people way too paranoid about what they say. There was nothing racist about your comment at all. I'd rather be called a white boy than a caucasion boy anyday. lol. Since when do the words white and black mean anything racist?
