I'll throw this on a screen somewhere...got a suspicion that Mizzou v Iowa game is going to be a decent football game this afternoon.

I was looking at ticket prices a couple hours ago just to see that they looked like, wasn't planning on going. But the prices were in line with what we used to see for a Bama vs. South Carolina type matchup on a Web night in Feb... A December 29th game against a team like SDSU not long ago, you'd have paid more for a bottled water than you'd pay for the ticket. Lowest I saw earlier was $16 for a spot in the rafters, but the average was probably closer to $35 or more.

This is the kind of shooting we need. I know its SD State, but we are hitting the open shots. Gonna need that if we don't improve on defense or there could be some ugly games in the SEC this year.

Headed to work. Will watch later. But you see the majority of our misses are when we take an early 3 in the shot clock without passing it to an open man. Doesn't matter if it's a good look or not. Holloway usually is the one taking these shots. However when we start having a little ball movement, there's more rhythm in the offense and we can find a man with his feet set. We were up 16-7 and immediately missed five straight because of poor shot selection. Withinn minutes, it was a 14-0 run.

I think the offense needs to be adjusted to where we only take early 3s if they find an open man. Oats usually wants a shot within the first five seconds. I think it needs to be an automatic look at the rim first, get a paint touch, and then swing it around the perimeter.

I don't think Oats wants players just chunking it up for 3 because he wants a lot of shots from the perimeter. He wants the most efficient shot, which analytically is an open 3 or around the rim.

Holloway's defense needs a lot of work. Sears has never been a good defender unfortunately. Both constantly get caught on poor communication and lead to not switching. Leaving someone open for 3.

See that shot by Sears, he shouldn't take. Gets on high ball screen and immediately takes a shot. No passing or anything. I think shots like that should only happen when we're on a big run. Don't take it after the opposition immediately hits a 3. You're wasting a possession.

Quinerly was great as a facilitator and had amazing quickness to the rim. That said, I don't think we've had a more pure PG to run Oats' offense than Philon.

I hate that he's likely going to be one and done. One more year with him with Holloway next season would be sick.
