TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team launched four home runs in its series-opening 12-4 victory over North Dakota State on Friday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the win, Alabama improves to 10-0 on the year.
Kade Snell led the offense with a 4-for-5 line, highlighted by a solo home run in the second inning. The team captain added an RBI-single in the seventh, turning in his fifth multi-RBI performance of the season.
Jason Torres produced his fourth multi-hit effort of the campaign, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the seventh.
Brennen Norton also recorded multiple hits, including a two-run blast to left field in the second.
Richie Bonomolo Jr. registered his first Alabama home run in the second, closing his night 2-for-4 to go with two RBI and a stolen base.
Zane Adams worked 4.0 innings as the starter in Friday's tilt, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts, matching his career high.
Braylon Myers (1-0) earned the win in the 50th outing of his career, turning in 3.0 scoreless relief innings while surrendering just two hits and striking out three.
Carson Ozmer then worked a scoreless ninth, striking out the side to secure the Friday night victory.
From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"A bit of a sluggish start for us.
Zane Adams wasn't super sharp in the top of the first – they got some seeing-eye hits and chopped some balls through the infield, which is just how baseball goes sometimes, but he did a great job of settling in and hanging some zeros. The bullpen did a great job.
Braylon Myers kind of shut down any kind of momentum that they might have had. We had a big second inning and their reliever did a great job of mixing pitches, but we stayed patient and broke things open there in the seventh inning. A good start to the weekend, but we've got to come back and replicate that tomorrow."
