šŸˆ Alabama officially releases new coaching staff

Let's remember there's still going to be changes on the defensive side of the ball.

There needs to be one of two things. Either replacing coaches or giving them more time to learn the system. If there was one Achilles heel this season for the defense it was communication.

On that same note it's an example of just how good Pruitt was in his role—especially making adjustments and calls "on the fly."
What changes do you see coming? I assume Tosh isn’t going to be fired or anything

FWIW, expect official announcement for Sark pretty soon.

I'm keeping an eye on what comes about with Kyle Flood. I don't know if he'll move back to college football, but it appears he's seriously considering such a move.

Honestly, nothing is really out of bounds with Tosh right now. He's a great recruiter, no doubt. But, when it came to calling the defense he didn't do a good job—hence, so many conversations about the lack of communication (or bad communication) last season. A former staff member has said that Golding ended up calling plays quite a bit this past season.

There's a hell of a lot of chum in the water right now. I hate to say it, but the easiest thing to do as a fan is tread water for a bit...it'll be cleared up soon.

It is interesting to me if we do see Tosh move(d) on for us to go back and look and see how many were saying "if he's not promoted he'll end up going to another school." He was, and we saw defensive issues this season. And believe you me, they're not all related to new coaches considering we saw so many new faces this season as well.

Tosh to OLB with a Co-DC title? That wouldn't surprise me. Will Tosh accept such a move? I don't know.

Enos was given his path and chose to pack up according to reports. It'll be ironic seeing him back at a northern directional school soon.

Agree on Tosh not being DC material... At this level. Is & was a perfect position coach & recruiter. Depends on how thankul he is to Saban for the opportunity and where he see's his path to a big time DC position.... Which likely wouldn't be at Alabama under Saban.

If we can get the Washington dude I'd be pumped! RTR

I'm already tired of this and there is no point in continuing to argue it. Unfortunately Sark is the OC... I'll just sit back and hope he doesn't completely go off the rails.

Who do you want though?!

I WANTED Enos or Gattis... other than that Spavital from West Virginia (maybe not if he wanted to solely bring Air Raid), Hugh Freeze (even with all the drama), Kendal Briles and Princeton's OC Gleeson from Princeton even seemed interesting to me. Freddie Kitchens was my ultimate get until he was named HC at Cleveland. I also thought Matt Canada might be okay. But like I said, all of that is pointless now.

Surely Tosh would be fine with a OLB/Co-DC. I mean sure he’ll get other offers if for no other reason is because he’s a great recruiter, but don’t you think it’d be best for him to stay with Saban?

Jim Harbaugh: Josh Gattis will ā€˜run the whole offense’ at Michigan

ā€œWhen coach Harbaugh called it kind of caught me off-guard. The funny thing about it, I had just left a meeting with (Alabama coach) Nick Saban getting my butt chewed out for about 20 minutes telling him I was leaving, and he was trying to get me to stay. It did not go over well. If there was a Band-Aid for that bruise it was that phone call (from Harbaugh). It was exciting to hear his voice.ā€
Winter conditioning began Monday, and Harbaugh said he and Gattis began meeting over the weekend.

Sure appears that both Gattis and Enos wanted to get out of town
Here’s the audio...

Freeze would’ve been my choice! Gleeson would’ve been nice too I think.

Makes me wonder why he and Enos wanted the heck out of there?

One bad game...and its to the gallows..... surprised some of you arent calling for Nicks resignation....
......whoever Nick wants ...he gets....period....
And even with all the movements by players,...we are at the top again..and again..and again...

Sounds like they are a little sensitive and thin-skinned...

Just so we're perfectly clear here and this is second hand info coming from someone who personally spoke with Gattis.

Before that, let me ask you a question of sorts. If your child tells you a lie to you address them on it? Do you "call them out?" Okay, I'm sure 99.9%, if not more, have said yes. Third question. If an adult lies to you, "do you call them out?" I do and appreciate others who do as well.

That said...

CJG told people under no uncertain terms, and this was before the early signing day, that he was staying at Bama and wouldn't be taking the OC job at Maryland. He wanted to be the OC at Bama, but like a lot of people he felt Enos would get the nod before he would. And, he was right. Gattis was never going to get the OC job.

The point here is he said he was staying. He went on to mention how he felt working with Saban would help him develop and Saban would also help him get in the head coaching ranks (and this is a quote) "when the time is right."

Then he accepts the position at Maryland. Then he accepts his second job offer at Michigan.

Now we're looking at the aftermath.

For what it's worth, if I were in your shoes, I'd look at the track record of reporting in Michigan when it comes to football.

The funny thing to me is this. It's my opinion that one more blow out by Ohio State and ol' Harbaugh is looking for a job himself (if he doesn't cut and run.) And, a first year head coach being the one that coaches the Buckeyes to that win?

On a personal note, if I were in Saban's shoes I wouldn't have any issues with a coach leaving for a promotion. In essence, the move to Maryland would be just that—a move up the career ladder. As a closing thought, if you don't like your "ass being chewed out," don't lie to your boss.

Interesting, because in the previously posted tweet of his phone interview, Gattis doesn't elaborate on what brought on the "ass chewing". I assume it's mostly what you're describing here, mixed with some animosity over losing an ace recruiter that had a large part in what many are saying is the best signing class in Bama history.

Pruitt also spent a number of years under Saban as an assistant though, which made his transition to DC when he was rehired that much more seamless.

Gattis puffing on Harbaugh's johnson!! Trying to inflate that ego.

Sounds like Saban wanted Enos too... Tried that. Gattis would've been a first timer like Tosh was this year... Big stage to get your feet wet. Freeze already accepted the head a job at a dang religious school while trying to rehab his image.... Long shot for an OC gig this late in the process.

Not a lot of names jumping off the board right now, honestly. If Sark stays off the hooch I think he's going to do really well... And my gut says he's coming back to college for a reason and it's not to suck. He's seen it all. RTR
