šŸˆ Alabama officially releases new coaching staff

<tldr>
<I don't think American Spirit is a bad brand of cigarettes.>

At that time we were seeing the teenage years of what the Big12 is today with their all-offensive approach.

Let's remember what time we're talking about here. That conference was dealing with the Mike Leach affect, for one, and unlike the SEC the air raid offense changed the face of that conference.

A point I believe needs to be considered as we're tossing around who was the "guy" in those defenses, let's remember Stoops was the one hired as a head coach. It's not as if one has more success than the other. It's suggestible it's the opposite.

As an analyst. For defense. To work with a guy coming up in a era of football that changing.

Is if fair to say that Stoops has seen the birth of what we're seeing in offensive football today?

Tommy Tubberville understood a little bit about defense in his day. He went to Texas Tech and year one he tried a little of that SEC brand of football but year 2 he turned to the spread and tried to outscore folks like the other teams in that league. 8 wins in two of his 3 years and only 5 in the other. That league will not allow you to play great defense. It is documented.

I think the annalist dudes serve 3 good purposes...

1. Great experience in terms of film/practice/game prep

2. Natural pressure on the coordinators who are usually less qualified than the annalist to do a hell of a job, every day.

3. When said coordinator decides to take off, there is a natural replacement ready to Roll.

OU is paying their new DC 1.1 million and that is what Tosh was making as the Bama DCIT.....Pete gonna get a nice increase since he was making 650K.

Is it possible that Nick has one more Major change for his defensive staff?(after NSD).......we'll see. Having 3 DB coaches is odd with Sir Nick being part of that staff...maybe he fired himself.

The rumors had it that Ole Miss had offered him 1.5 mill for their position. I have my doubts, but we are talking about Ole Miss.

It's a safe assumption both OU and Ole Miss offered him well above what he was made last season. Literally, a bet your mortgage kind of safe assumption. But that brings us right back to where we were a few weeks ago.

He stayed, and is staying, because of the route Saban has lain out for his career development.

On another note...

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Saban had talked to former Tider Lance Taylor about opening on the staff. Taylor has been hired by Notre Dame as their running backs coach.

With UK having their DC leave for the Chiefs we're starting to see rumors about Mike heading to Lexington versus working with the Bama staff.

A really good season capped off with a bowl win against 1 of the blue bloods (?) of college football Penn State bought Mark a good amount of good will within the Kentucky football fan base; but that hire would go over like a fart in church.
