Tough night. We let that one get away, and to a team we were clearly superior too. Braxton Key needs to see the bench and Petty only likes to shoot the three ball. I agree with a post before that everyone needs another year, even Sexton. Sexton will be a lottery pick, but I feel as if he drives into traffic way too much and turns the ball over. I think we make a run and put a bug in the selection committee's ears, but we need to win two in the SEC Tournament. If we have atleast 4 of 5 starters return, we'll be hell on wheels next year, because we are almost over the hump from being good to really good.

It's hard to win on the road in the SEC. The MSU dogs were 17-1 at the Hump this year and are a solid man to man defensive team. We missed a bunch of contested shots but this is one you hope to steal but a loss is likely.

PS. Key does a bunch for this team. He struggling getting the ball in the basket but he is a great defender.. blocks shots, leads us in steals, runs the break, is a great passer and will get his scoring touch back. JOHN Petty is a little one dementional right now but he has improved his d and his passing. He just has to add some stuff to his game. He will fill it up Next year after a season to adjust.

So lighten up Francis! We are an ultra young team and winning on the road requires a little experience that we don't have yet

They are forcing him to take shots he doesn't like and he is pressing. He has also learned that if you are one dimensional in college basketball you will get exposed a little. I have seen improvements in other parts of his game but he has been struggling with his confidence. When I played, a struggling shooter would find a way to get to the free throw line and gain some confidence but he isn't a good foul shooter either. They need to runn a staggered screen and get him free early. Also, if we could dominate down low and at the rim we could force teams into a zone which would help him some too.

Nothing is going to help this basketball team more than another year in the program. And Sexton is just not the caliber of difference maker we might have thought as the season gets on. It's somewhat paradoxical for this youngster to have a 4.0 GPA and one and done ambitions. A genuinely smart guy that has the sense to stay off of social media. Nope, that doesn't sound typical.

I am not sure about the rest of yall but the goal for me this year is to see Bama make the NCAA tournament. I believe that will do that but may not be as high of a seed as many want. CAJ has moved this time in the right direction in the past 3 years because let's face it, we were horrible. Next season is the year we make the big statement to see how far this program has turned.

We are so inconsistent, play well one game and bad the next. As someone mentioned in an earlier post, we are young but its almost the end of the season. We do not shoot FT well which has been a problem all season. I know CAJ works on this in practice. IMO, I do not see any of our players being drafted in the first round. Do we have good players? Yes! Do we have NBA players right now? I dont think so because there are areas in their games that need improvement.

I can tell you at the beginning of the year I looked at our schedule and thought that we were in for a long year. We played and absolute brutal schedule all the way thru. We have the potential to win any game that we are in which is different from years past and is very nice but we also have the ability to lose any game we play. I will be thrilled just to make it to the tournament and if we can win a game I would be over the moon.

Next year if these freshman improve their games.. Herb Jones develops a little more confidence offensively, Petty develops a little more all around and Alex Reese gets a little more confident. Then with Dazon, Hall, Giddens and Key developing another year we out to be a seasoned and talented team.

@Destiny's Child, agree with your observation 100%. I'll even take it one step more and say Sexton needs to stay one more year to work on his outside game. IMO, he is not ready for an 82 game pro season. He will make a team but will he play valuable minutes and contribute? I don't think so right now.

Saturday will be a tough game and how we play will be important to our seeding. Tennessee is a very good basketball team, they have won 5 in a row including just beating Kentuck at Kentucky. A true top ten team with a good defense, athleticism and a bunch of shooters all over the floor.

We have played great at home in spurts. We play Tennessee, auburn Florida, Kentucky and LSU before the end of the year. Not any easy wins there so winning this one is important and would be another quality win

I've been watching the Texas basketball program and I've concluded that when they got rid of Rick Barnes they got rid of the wrong coach. And when you look at Tennessee's team I'm pretty sure I'm right.
