Impressive so far but we still have a lot of football left to play.
Exactly. As Saban said, our toughest opponents (LSU, Auburn - no disrespect to Miss State) are ahead of us. Who have we played? A&M was ok. FSU was good, who knows HOW good, prior to their QB going down. Everyone else has SUCKED.
Our O-line is NOT what we thought they'd be - just not getting to the 2nd level with blocks all season, Cotton and Hentges look lost at times. The young receivers can catch, and get open, and seem to know the plays better than Foster, but they don't block as well - they're smallish as true freshmen in the SEC.
Jalen is STILL getting used to stepping up in the pocket. Decisions to throw are still slow, unlike Tua.
EVEN u cheat was able to stymie our running game at first with loading the box, corner blitzes, etc. These guys are NOT well coached and are NOT talented. So if we aren't better able to take advantage and make opponents pay with short passes in those situations it will be an absolute WAR against Auburn, and perhaps against LSU as well. Not to mention, if all goes well, UGA and the CFB playoff.
Believe me, I am only observing the negative, and it ain't a lot, overall. But the things I did mention are being noticed by opposing coaches, and they will exploit them.
Have loved to see how Womack, overall, and certainly Williams, have performed on the line - Bozeman had a bad game vs A&M but has done fine overall. Peirsbacher has done pretty well, Cotton - meh. Hentges misses half the blocks he's supposed to make. Irv Smith is doing well, despite the fumble. The RBs are great, although Bo may be missing half a step of acceleration. Hurts is continuing to improve, but SLOWLY, in the passing game, and the RPOs aren't working well for him.
Hard to anything negative about the D.
Tough roads ahead - we will see if we can live up to the #1 ranking. Roll Tide, and hope for the best!
