I don't think #15 will go unless he gets much better and #89 has to find another gear as well but the rest are gone.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see XM have a season that puts his name out there much like Diggs did this season. I don't think we've had the opportunity to see what all Ray can bring to the table. He'd been following Buggs all season and we've seen how little substitutions are happening along the defensive line the last few years. On the season RD, QW, and IB had two times as many snaps as Ray.

Apparently ole #89 can bring a lot of cold beers to that table....... I don't think we've had the opportunity to see what all Ray can bring to the table.

The exception would be Auburn of this past season. It was his only start of the year as I recall. I know Buggs played 12 snaps in that game: Ray, Williams, and Davis all had 50+ snaps that Saturday.

He certainly didn't know when to walk away from the table the other night.

A friend of my son has this to say:

One reason our defense was ā€œweakerā€ than normal is in the last 2 NFL drafts we have lost 12 defensive players into the first 4 rounds of the draft. Most of these players are starting in the league .... last year Harrison in the 3rd round starting for the Jags prior to IR, Hand started 8 games for the Lions. I point out those 2 simply because they were not early picks but are still producing at an early stage of their pro career.

Double check me but I believe that in 2016 - 4, in 2015 - 1, in 2014 - 2, in 2013 -1, defensive players taken in the first 4 rounds. That breaks down to in FOUR years we had 8 players taken in the 1st 4 rounds .... last TWO years 12 players taken in the 1st 4 rounds:

2018 Draft first 4 rounds
1 Minkah
1 Payne
1 Evans
3 Harrison
4 Hand
2017 Draft first 4 rounds
1 Humphries
1 Allen
1 Foster
2 Anderson
2 Tomlinson
3 Willams
4 Jackson

We simply cannot lose that many players over 2 years and have a few key injuries and not suffer. Add in that, for whatever reason, some of the backups didn’t develop like we thought they should / would and you have Bama facing a major ā€œrebuildā€ going into 2019, especially on defense.

Nothing can be done about losing them. Money talks and despite what Bama fans believe this is about money for these kids. LSU lost 12 to the NFL a couple years back and it really hurt them and it is going to hurt Bama as well. An entire recruiting class will be wiped from the books. This isn't your Father's college football anymore.

Where was our offense? It was a game that slowly unraveled and then quickly snowballed. It really felt like we got out schemed and outplayed. I don't feel like we got out talented. I get why Tosh is no longer our DC.

Injuries at key spots really hurt the defense and poor play at LBer/DB was a issue as well. Hell even if #47 had been able to play perhaps he could have applied some pressure along with #33. #49 was a disaster against Clemson since he was playing on one leg. The loss of #24 this year was a killer. TenBears and myself had him checked as our defensive player of the year yet the guy had the same number of tackles as we did. I am not sure who on our staff is in charge of injury luck but while Nick is cleaning our the coaches locker room it would be great if he used put that person in Butch's trash can.

I have tried to imagine the results if we still had Jeremy Pruitt calling the D vs clemson. When our front four wasn't getting it done with the pass rush, he would have opened the gates of hell with blitzes from all over the place. Putting pressure against a true freshman QB should have been priority one, regardless of how it had to be done. So the tigers get some mileage on occasion with draws and screens. They were doing that just walking our defense down in their normal package. We may not have had the depth of some of our past defenses, but we had speed with our front seven and back half coming out our azz. Makes a guy wonder what would happen if we had a defense attacking with the same aggression as our offense.
