🏈 Alabama DL Reed arrested for DUI

So basically you're saying unless he kills someone it's not enough to boot him and make an example? So as long as he gets lucky enough not to hurt someone he's cool to continue making these decisions? Sorry, but in this day and age the awareness is around him 100 times a day, so there is no excuse for being a dumb idiot. And someone said it above, he's got 10,000 people in Tuscaloosa willing to be his personal taxi service for free in order to keep our guys out of trouble, and also to say you met a player. Overreaction, I don't think so.

Why are you putting words in my mouth? Im not "basically" saying that, Im not saying it at all. Im saying its an overreaction to boot him when hes never been in trouble before without even giving him a second chance. And I'm one of the ones that mentioned the personal taxis so you arent telling me anything I didnt already say.

Driving impaired by alcohol and weed is THE SAME. It's all fun until someone gets killed, and it happens when someone is driving under the influence of marijuana too. I know it happens. Lose someone you love, Bird, and you'll change your tune.

Again someone completely misrepresenting what I said. Where did I say DRIVING impaired by either wasnt the same? I said driving drunk is 100 times worse than SMOKING weed, where did I said smoking weed while driving? Both are stupid but with that said they are not the same. It takes alot less to be impaired with alcohol but you can miss me with that "lose someone you love" stuff because I didnt say anything that you claimed I said.

We if you're not saying one thing you're implying another, so that's why I "basically" said what you were implying. If I would have typed "you said" I would have been quoting you, but I said "basically" in which I was questioning you saying one thing and asking if you meant the opposite was ok. You telling me to "stop it" about calling for his head was why I explained what you were implying was ok and what was not. It doesn't matter if he's never been in trouble before, he knows it's wrong, just like you and I do. I simply said make an example of the fool to stop the madness with these guys continuing to do these things. If they personally affected you I'm sure you'd be singing a different tune. I'm not saying give the guy life in prison, but I am saying if he's dumb enough to do something he's been taught about not to do since he was atleast in middle school, he deserves to get kicked off.

And yes, I said someone said it above, so you got credit for the taxi comment, so not sure what you think I was trying to tell you?

Freaking boot his ass. I'm so sick and damn tired of these idiots continuing to make stupid decisions. Do any of us really sit there and think the coaches, staff, and even other players haven't told these guys about illegal activity, agents, and DUI's? It is pounded into their skull's man. You start dismissing these guys after their first DUI and the rest will learn really quick. Small suspensions and running doesn't work. Get into their draft stock by kicking them off the team and some will start to listen. This is simple logic, not asking them to survive without oxygen, food, or water. I'm just over this garbage, at any school.
Harsh.

Maybe we should have a team vote

I would be cool with that. Think I mentioned it before but I had a drinking incident as a freshman in high school and my team voted on what to do with me re: team standing. Usually the sports coaches and the AD at my school (no joke, our AD's name was Mr. Cramp) would determine the final punishment, but the team members' opinions were always important.

@PhillyGirl, I think that was sarcasm. As another school has done a team vote...

I see no reason to think this won't be something discussed in the meetings of the leadership council. I'm just as sure Saban will listen to their recommendation. While the final decision will be his, mirroring that recommendation from the council isn't unheard of and shouldn't be a shock if we hear that's the case.

I am confident that CNS will have discipline suitable for the offense and Reed's history. I am equally confident, off observations over seven plus years of CNS and our program, that this will not be played out in the press. Let's trust CNS to do the right thing. He has quite a history of doing just that.

I seem to remember Coach Bryant suspending Joe Namath for both the Auburn game and the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss for drinking one beer at a frat part (or so the story goes). There was a time when players didn't drink or smoke or whatever during the season. 'Course, the season now is pretty much a year-round thing. Still, I would have loved to have the opportunity these guys have to play for a nationally ranked football team and, in most cases, do it on a full-ride scholarship.

lmao yeah Im sure it was 'one beer'... Kenny Stabler has repeated the story about him being drunk as hell and driving to his girlfriends and back before being caught sneaking back into the dorm. I love the thought that they didnt drink during the season lmao yea right but this isnt the season anyway.

Regarding the Namath suspension, a cousin has a story he swore was true. Whatever Namath did, Bryant kicked him out of the athletic dorm. Namath moved into a room in the basement of one of those old boarding houses that used to be across the street from the stadium. My cousin lived in the other room in the basement. They shared a bathroom that was so small that you could shave, shower and sh** all at the same time. He said that he saw Namath sit in a folding chair at one end the hallway between their rooms, a beer in one hand and darts in the other, and skewer cockroaches at the other end of the hall with the darts. Talk about hand-eye coordination.
