šŸ“ Alabama-Auburn battle for 5-star Daron Payne as decision nears

Reading the article, it seems that early playing time will be the deciding factor for him. I'm sure that the Barners are telling him, "look how deep Bama is in their rotation and they are only going to lose 2-3 guys if Reed opts out early and one of those Anthony Orr didn't even see the field!" Hopefully, the kid will look at our younger guys and see that if you are good enough and aren't afraid of competition, you'll get on the field and make this team that much better. Being on the field for 70 snaps and not having anyone to give you a breather will suck when you are going 8-4 each year.

BONE: Nick Saban visiting Payne

Daron Payne, five-star defensive tackle from Shades Valley High School in Ala., learned the news on Friday of Will Muschamp hired as Auburn's defensive coordinator. Payne lists the Tigers as one of his top two schools.

"It's a good hire," Payne said. "I kind of knew it was going to happen. Well, I thought it would happen. He didn't recruit me when he was at Florida. I don't really know him that well. I am impressed with his reputation."

Payne will have several coaches at his home on Sunday including three head coaches.

"There are supposed to be three or four coaches at my house tomorrow," he said. "I know Coach Malzahn and Coach Garner are coming. I think they are bringing Coach Muschamp with them.

"Coach Saban is coming by. I think Coach Mullen is also coming by. I heard from several coaches this week. They were mainly just texts. Everyone was telling me good luck and all that."

The five-star spent time with several highly-touted prospects who are committed to programs like Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State. He heard all the pitches, and he said one was recruiting him harder than the others.

"All of them recruited me," Payne said. "All were telling me how their school is the best. I would say the one who was on me the hardest all week was Christian Bell. He was just telling me how Auburn sucks and all that."

Daron Payne, five-star defensive tackle from Shades Valley High School in Ala., met with Nick Saban today in Tuscaloosa. Payne made the short trek down to Alabama rather than Coach Saban using his in-home visit. Coach Saban can still use an in-home visit with Payne and his family in January.

Payne met with new Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and defensive line coach Rodney Garner at his home today.

@252BAMA, that was a BS call on the ejection! Did you see it? It was at the end of the half and MS couldn't get a play off before time expired. Payne walked thru their Oline toward their lockerroom. An Olineman stepped in front of him and he pushed him aside, the kid got back in his way and Payne pushed again. This time, the kid went FULL WWE and flopped!!!
