I thought it was a joke when I saw it on facebook, but checked and its real. Williamson beat Murphy 100-0 tonight in Mobile. It was 66-0 at halftime. For those not aware, Sherman Williams is the HC at Murphy, a once a pretty good program (at times), and one of the oldest public schools in the state. They suck right now though... they've been outscored 308-12 so far this season. That's embarrasing any way you slice it, but for a 6A school... it's even worse (and Williamson is 5A). Murphy was our main rival when I attended McGill... they were not very good then, but they were not nearly this bad. And ironically, this year is Murphy's 100th football season.

Still waiting for Bob Jones HS and the Huntsville area to be at the level the Birmingham metro is in football. May never happen. People here don't take it as serious as they do basketball.

Clay-Chalkville is sitting at 6-0, with the only close one last night's 28-24 over Thompson.

Pell City was off last night, but they have started 4-1 with the lone loss to Clay-Chalkville. Nick Gentry is the head coach, staying on after Propst's sole season (1-10 in 2023). Gentry had Pell City in the playoffs with a 5-5 record last year, losing by a single point in the first round to finish 5-6. Getting by Mountain Brook last week was big in keeping them in the playoff picture.

Never heard of a team getting beat 100-0 under any circumstance. Good luck to Sherman but going to take a lot to fix a team that got beat 100-0. With that said I know absoultely nothing about that situation...

There is NO REASON to beat a team 100-0. Gee, just run a dive right and a dive left. A pure lack of class IMO.Not sure if Alabama high schools have a running clock or not but that would help some.

In Ohio it’s a state rule. I still think a coach can control the score better than scoring 100. Thanks for the info.

That's true. They supposedly did go with a running clock in the 4th quarter at some point, but they didn't do it when originally requested, or shorten the quarters, which was also requested.

I have a rather wild story about Nick Gentry when he was at Bama.

This is 3rd hand, but the story goes that he and Rolando were at the same small party. Both were rather sauced up and smack talk turned into aggressive confrontation.

I wish him the best here in Pell City. This town hasn't had a good team in about twenty years, and that was a flash in the pan. A non-winning history has allowed Propst to sing his minstrel song to secure a number of stops, but his spare wife being from here added to the allure. Interestingly, they had Coosa Christian on their schedule this year, just getting by them.
