Four-star OL Darrian Dalcourt commits to Tide
Alabama has landed its third commitment in the last year from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy, this time from 4-star offensive lineman
Darrian Dalcourt.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder
took to Twitter to announce his decision on Thursday evening.
Dalcourt chose Alabama over Ohio State.
āI think the competitiveness,ā Dalcourt told BamaOnLine after the Champions Cookout in July of what he liked about the Tide .
āThe players, everybody is just working for a spot. Everybody is really competitive with what they do.ā
Offensive coordinator Mike Locksley led the charge on the interior offensive lineman.
āWe have a really good relationship,ā Dalcourt said of Locksley. āI talk to him a lot. Weāve built a strong relationship.ā
He's also become close with offensive line coach Brent Key.
āAs a player he says Iām pretty athletic and that he would love me at center,ā Dalcourt said.
Dalcourt visited Tuscaloosa twice this spring and summer -- once for A-Day and then again for the Champions Cookout at the end of last month.
He's not the only Alabama pledge in the 2019 class from St. Frances Academy. His teammate, 4-star inside linebacker Shane Lee joined the Tide's class back in April. Last cycle, 5-star edge rusher Eyabi Anoma signed with Alabama over Maryland and Michigan and is getting set for his freshman season campaign.
The East Coast native is rated the No. 14 offensive guard and the No. 327 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Tide was the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite at 100 percent at the time of his announcement.
Dalcourt is commitment No. 21 of Alabama's 2019 class, which puts Bama back atop the standings in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings after a brief stint atop the list by Georgia. The 4-star lineman is the fourth offensive line commitment in the Tide's 2019 class joining 5-star tackle Pierce Quick, 4-star tackle Amari Kight and 4-star tackle Tanner Bowles. Alabama will continue after 5-star center Clay Webb and 5-star tackles Darnell Wright and Evan Neal to round out what could be an all-timer offensive line class.
The commitment gives comes on the heels of a momentous week on the recruiting trail for Alabama. On Wednesday, the Tide landed former 247Sports 5-star linebacker Brandon "Ale" Kaho after the Reno (Nev.) product was granted a release from his National Letter of Intent by Washington.
Going forward, Alabama may not be done at St. Frances just yet. 2020 5-star edge rusher Chris Braswell picked up an Alabama offer earlier this year and considers the Tide a dream school. He is one to watch in next year's cycle.
