..and it looks like we are right at the 25 mark we need to be at for this class.

Just to review a bit...

Started with 32. 2 of those, Chris Jackson and Corey Smith were back counters against the 2007 class.

30.

We now know that two of this class will be taking the MLB route, Melvin Ray and Destin Hood.

28.

Academic casualties will take one for sure, Brandon Lewis who is headed to Hargrave. Kerry Murphy looks to be one that won't make it as well despite both Kerry and his coach saying he'd make it. Add to that bit of bad news, in this case no news very well may be bad news as it is virtually impossible to get word on whether Devonta Bolten will be arriving on campus.

That leaves us at 25 or 26 depending on Bolten.

IF we are at 26, there is still the possibility that Neighbors takes the Bryant Scholarship or another player takes a grey-shirt.

Either way, the 25 number is right where it had to be due to NCAA regs.

Now, on to the 85 number and here's where it gets tricky.

With the addition of Smith and Jackson we were sitting at a total of 65 players on scholarship meaning we need 5 spots to open up at this point. At this point it's speculation on what is going to happen here.

We all know about Zeke and his health. Personally, I have strong doubts he'll see the field next season but it should be noted word has it Zeke will be seeing a specialist next month.

Lionel Mitchell has a question mark on his return considering the injuries he's dealt with that kept him out of spring practice as well.

Prince, we all know his situation although rumor has it he's back with the team in a limited role.

That still leaves two spots if all three of those guys don't make it back. I'm not concerned, but admittedly very curious to see how it plays out.

I'll throw this out as well: Nick Gentry has been rumored to be leaving the team if he hasn't left already. Players that haven't played like Coger and Deaton could be out as well. Keep in mind, I am not wishing any of them to leave, but I know for a fact that Coach Saban will not waste too much time with unproductive guys now!!!

I mentioned over on the recruiting forum a few days ago that word was Gentry was leaving. I feel very comfortable with the guy that shared that news with me and I've also heard it from another fellow close to the program.

That said, I was including him in the 65...so make that 64.

Were you including Coger and Deaton as well?

FWIW, the earlier mention of Prince working with the team again has been confirmed.

That means he did all that was expected of him from Coach Saban. Dang, I hope he plays it close to the collar from here on out. We really need him, and I'm hoping he wouldn't have worked hard to come back if he didn't really want to be here. Here's to hoping. :)

What about someone like Will Oakley? He has been hampered by injuries and I think already has his degree. Someone like Travis Sikes, I don't even know what position he is but likely not to crack the top two as well as Sam Burnthall.
