Nearby, I ate at Automatic Seafood this evening for the first time. I'd heard nothing but good things about the place, it's received all sorts of accolades. Good meal, but I thought it fell short. Party of seven, I tasted it all but the grilled oysters (my 9 y/o granddaughter wasn't in a sharing mood). No entree rocked my world. In fairness, the espresso creme brûlée was outstanding, as was the service.I work very close to there 2nd Ave N).

I agree. The funny thing was that I had the scallops and short rib, their version of surf & turf. The scallops were very good, and the short rib was overcooked and tough. A decent short rib would've changed my view on my dish. One thing I learned from living in both the B’ham area and on the gulf coast… Seafood suggestions from non gulf coast residents are unreliable, at best. BBQ suggestions from those on the gulf coast are equally as dangerous, if not worse. That isn’t a 100% blanket statement that applies to all, but in my experiences at least, it rings about as true as can be.
Damn. Talk about the truth here...One thing I learned from living in both the B’ham area and on the gulf coast… Seafood suggestions from non gulf coast residents are unreliable, at best. now? you are in town?My wife and I are visiting Charleston. I've always wanted to visit here. Thanks to the dark web (and $10 to a 15 year old who knows how to navigate it), I have found the @TerryP residence here in the battery.
It sure is a tough life, isn't it?

Blue Angels practicing today.
At the air show today. I stayed at the truck cause I don't like crowds. You wouldn't believe how many car alarms these jets set off.Last summer, my cousin died from COPD. His funeral was at Barrancas. We cousins with our parents met up at a church not too far from there before we drove over there. We just stopped and watched the Blue Angels practice for a while. Later during the service, the Blue Angels flew low a couple of times. Scared the hell outta one of my cousins, but damn! It was something else.
Point is, if you ever get a chance, see them. It is a treat!
I start shying away from Oysters this time of the year. I know they say April is in season although it's the last month of the season.Wife decide we needed to hit the beach in the spring and fall this year.
Jesse’s on the Bay last night.

I will usually go with the farm raised Boutiques, but last night I went with the Louisiana wild caught. They had a super clean, good brine flavor. Jesse’s has a house made hot sauce that is some count too.I start shying away from Oysters this time of the year. I know they say April is in season although it's the last month of the season.
I haven't made it to the bay location yet, but it's hard to not eat a steak in Magnolia Springs.I will usually go with the farm raised Boutiques, but last night I went with the Louisiana wild caught.
