🏈 A couple of takeaways from Coach Saban's news conference...

I really love hearing Coach Saban say how good team chemistry is this year. He said there was not a lot of negativity that he hears or sees. He really seemed encouraged by this. It makes you wonder if the 2013 Crimson Tide became plagued with whatever afflicted the 2010 team?

Inside Linebacker: We knew of the depth issues there (@TerryP has mentioned this several times) and it seems Tre DePriest is finding his conditioning not to be very good. Saban seems to think he will struggle with all the fast-paced offenses we face early on. I really hope Evans steps it up.

QB: He was not asked a lot on the subject and when he addressed the subject, he was asked about which positional groups needed to improve the most. He answered ILB and QB's. He said both are doing good things but he didn't sound confident in either one in my opinion. You will have to listen to him and make up your own mind. Anyway, it's concerning. It's been a long time since we had concerns at either position.

Very nice to hear about the chemistry being great. As far as inside linebacker, I think we'll be fine. Rashaan Evans is fast and a stud. Though we might not be as deep at linebacker as say running back, I feel as if our talent pool there won't miss a beat or lose us any games. I think our defense will be better this year because we have the players to rush the quarterback and some talent to defend the pass. I feel like we got smoked when quarterbacks had all day to throw, but I think with a rush we'll have great coverage early in the play as long as it doesn't drag on. Then once some experience kicks in after a few games, I think our secondary with be staunch. Quarterbacks will come along. I'm just not as worried maybe as I should be, but I think all of our guys have enough talent to be "game managers" till they get to where they need to be, if I'm allowed to use that phrase.
