The Transfer Portal will be open from Friday, January 2nd until Friday, January 16th. Players will have those 2 weeks to enter the portal, but can sign after the portal closes. The 2 teams that play in the CFP National Championship Game will have a five-day portal period from January 20-24.

Note- Players in Red were either starters or significant contributors who played 150+ non-special teams plays in 2025.

Oh I see what you're saying. Yes, Bama players were offered by the other teams to enter the portal and transfer to them. Similar to what other coaches were doing. Lane Kiffin did that to Ole Miss. Alabama was doing the same thing.

100 RB pretty sure, he's likely a depth piece for ST among other things.

All they had to do was enter the portal before it closed. Beyond that, they can commit/sign elsewhere whenever. Now, spring, summer... Lots of players still looking for a home. And lots of teams still looking for some depth pieces.

Can't say I wouldn't be chasing money too at that age, especially if I'd came from a poorer household. However, as a grumpy old man who loves Alabama football, I hate this portal crap and I hate the NIL crap. Whatever happened to wanting to play for a school because you were a fan of the school or knew the coaching staff could put you in the best position to get to the NFL. I look forward to the day, if it comes, that this thing blows up in everyone's face that thought this was good for college football

Not sure anyone ever thought this was what was best for College Football. This has been about players getting paid. Concept may be fine but how it is be executed or managed is insane,

The staff that can find that diamond in the rough is the one that will excel. As you know CNS had this gift (see Josh Jacobs). So maybe they exist in the large number of portal entries. Talent assessment is vital at this point it would seem.

JMO, but I think most all players in the portal are good football players. The million dollar question? Can this staff teach, develop and motivate these portal players to become better than good? I think They believe they can. We'll wait for the jury opinion.

I wanna be optimistic. So bad.

2026 is the season thats saying a lot about this program at this point in time

Pretty much. At this point, filling out the roster to make sure they've got the practice depth at each spot will be the assignment. I could see 1 more WR for example. Another DT... another corner/DB. Maybe a special teams guy.
