The Transfer Portal will be open from Friday, January 2nd until Friday, January 16th. Players will have those 2 weeks to enter the portal, but can sign after the portal closes. The 2 teams that play in the CFP National Championship Game will have a five-day portal period from January 20-24.

Note- Players in Red were either starters or significant contributors who played 150+ non-special teams plays in 2025.

Maybe the plan is to accumulate so many OL on the roster that we have an adequate sample size to then clone 5 brand new linemen, after isolating all the best attributes of each of them for each position.
You know that when you clone a being (human, pig, cow, chicken), they aren't cloned at adult status. Cloning would create a new being at birth. They would still need to mature and train to become fully "identical" to the original being.

I was listening to Wyatt Fulton on Tide 100.9 at lunch today and he made the comment that we could see players being added to the portal up until midnight tonight because schools have 48 "business" hours to process a transfer portal request from a player. Since Saturday, Sunday and Monday were not business days that meant that if a player notified their school as late as 11:59 Friday night that they wanted to enter the portal, the school would have until 11:59 tonight to process it so that their name shows up on the transfer portal list. I understand that but he also said that a player could transfer after the end of the portal period by withdrawing from his school and enrolling at his new school and could play immediately as a walk-on non scholarship player. He said this is what the quarterback for Tulane did last year when he transferred from Brigham Young. My question to those of you that understand a lot more about the portal and NIL than I do is can that player receive NIL at his new school? I would assume he could and, if so, why would he care if he was on scholarship or not? Seems like this would make the portal transfer period a moot issue for most high value players. What is to stop them from transferring at any time if another team comes up with more cash?

On the first part, YES. School's technically have until midnight tonight to enter their players into the transfer portal. The player's had a deadline of Friday to put their name in, but schools could drag their feet if they chose to. It would be kinda petty to do so and I doubt many did it, but they could. Regardless, if the player was high profile, they'd have already announced on social media that they were going in anyway.

On the 2nd part, the loophole to transfer outside of the window... again, YES. I don't know all the particulars and some of it would be a case by case basis with how the players signed agreements read with their respective school, but the loophole is still there.

I’m okay with that. None of Indiana’s or Miami’s O linemen were All-SEC either. šŸ˜„

This is mostly a disclaimer for when he gives up a sack on the 2nd series of week 1 and the fans meltdown and call him trash, we can point back to something that warned them that he wasn’t on the Outland watch list this past season.
