UA is higher than 20th, but the issue is the top tier schools 1-6 or so (maybe more depending on the year), have so much money that they don't really have to worry with being careful with it. Bama is very competitive overall and pays very well, but UA isn't going to egregiously overpay for a player like some others can (and will). Even at times when Bama can win a bidding war, they don't push it. They stick to their strategy and budget (which again, is very competitive and more than fair in both football and basketball).

Hopefully, down the road when the breakaway from the NCAA happens, some smart people will figure out a way to make it even across the board in terms of roster money and cheaters will actually be held accountable and punished, like they would be in the NFL or other professional leagues.
NIL caps much like NFL salary caps.

Aren't NIL caps self-imposed by the school?
i think he meant unified caps that everyone has to abide to the same number... would help keep some of the "over payments" to a minimum at least. Also, technically, I think we are talking about rev share, not NiL. You can't really cap NiL (if NiL were to get capped, I'm guessing it would end up in law suites at least).

The NCAA needs to do a better job on verifying NiL as "real" NiL promotions and not just hand outs. Rev Share is a different pool of money.

Think of it this way...
NiL = Booster/Collective money for sponserships/autographs. This is true Name/Image/Likeness
Rev Share = University Athletic Department money. Schools share revenue from media rights, ticket sales, sponsorships, etc.

And I actually think there is already a cap on rev share come to think of it.... I'll have to google to find out, but my old tired brain recalls a 20mil cap across all schools for rev share ?

20.5 mill rev share cap

20.5 mill rev share cap
thanks for confirming. I think that cap is across all programs too... so 20 mil per school, not sport. The division % between BB and FB is a big factor for a lot of schools.

I think that's why when you see teams like TX spending so much on talent... you'll see them deficient in other areas. You run out of money giving guys 5 and 6 million... a pop. I personally think the way Bama does it is about right. You pay their "value" and fill out your team. WHen you start overpaying you can't sustain a long term program. We may lose a few Cam Coleman and Hollywood types guys, but in the long run I think it's a better system.

This is not the typical "link?" demand, I'd really like to see anything anyone has regarding a list. Thanks.

Here’s one after a quick search. Not the one I saw but about the same numbers.

Clint Lamb mentioned he is still talking to Michigan and that it’s not a done deal if I remember right.
That was before he was committed to Bama, Michigan had to free up money to pay Sprauge and their other OL that hit the portal to come back, they don't see Haywood as a starter this year either, and his main focus is to get playing time right now and learn. So Bama is the best bet to get a decent NIL payout and we have a lot of open positions on the OL obviously

I'm going to offer up a bit of "Patience is a virtue" wisdom to some of you, a few of you guys are being way too negative with every addition...some of these additions are immediate impact players some are just depth/fillers for development.

I will say, the trend so far in this portal cycle has mostly been to get guys with 2+ years left of eligibility. My guess? They're looking to develop these guys more and build the recruiting base from the ground and have the developmental approach they want. It's possible and likely that the team is moving to more of a "developmental" year this upcoming year. There's a real possibility that we are good, but not great this year as we break in a bunch of RS Soph-True Freshman OL additions along with a new QB and some other young talents.

That to be said, we definitely have the playmakers to catch lightning in a bottle. I think with Mack/Russell we also have the ability to do more DUAL Threat type plays, allowing legs to be used more. I'll be interested to see if the play calling changes a bit with more RPO options or whatnot for adjustments with the younger QBs. I think we'll be a good team probably top 15 again this year, so be patient, and trust the administration.
