🏈 2026 Alabama Roster Management Chart and Portal news

It just ain't fun anymore. Shocker these two have decided to go to Texas who pays more. Don't care that they didn't choose us, just sad it went to the largest booster club in the country. So yeah, calling straight BS on Coleman looking for more of a connection than money. I wouldn't believe a word any of these assholes or their "handlers" have to say.

I'd wait and see on that one, I know Raleek Brown's side wasn't aware that Texas wanted a 1-2 duo. Bama has been in contact with Brown also, there is some speculation he may ask out of his deal to pursue other opportunities (IE: Bama)

I can't sugarcoat today, it's been a rough few days for Bama in the portal. I honestly thought Morgan had a good grasp on this, but I think as much as Bama wants to be the "Good guys" who let guys go look around before deciding...those days have passed. That approach worked when people couldn't just throw money at things and make it happen. We need to lock these kids to a signing before they leave town. Bring their agent along, hell set him up in the room next to his client.

Word on Smothers was his agent was fielding calls from Texas while Smothers was visiting Bama and because Smothers needed his agents signature, he decided to have Smothers visit Texas because of the larger offer. Of course the agent wanted the larger $$ offer....

This kinda feels like the pivotal moment in the Saban era where there's a large shift across the sport. Bama can't afford to be the "nice guy" anymore, we gotta take what we want. I don't mean burn bridges but I do mean, be a little more cut throat about these offers...take it or leave it. If you leave Tuscaloosa then I'll assume you're moving on and bring in another visitor. I do understand people like Coleman and top tier guys may require letting them visit but it's a case by case basis there.

Anyways, I'm definitely frustrated but I don't think RB or WR are what is going to fix this teams issues. We need better OL and DL play first and foremost and that should be the bulk of our NIL spending IMO.

Why were we ever the nice guys? In a cutthroat world for decades, why on Earth were we ever the nice guys? I'm not talking wishing a guy the best of luck that chooses another school, but more to ever care about any other program and what they think?

I was thinking about him earlier. How much has changed in college football since he landed in Tuscaloosa? The NIL world is a shell of itself compared to two years ago. Revenue sharing wasn't in the picture. Few schools even had a role like his when he started at Bama.

Portal News Continued:

Bama is offering and hosting UL-Monroe OT Que McBroom

Started 12 games for the ULM guys this year was the #1 Juco OT in 2024 class.

I've looked it over, possibly solid pick-up here depending on things (He is filing for another year of eligibility with the NCAA) he allowed two sacks in the last two years playing for ULM He played last year some sparingly and all of this year as the starter. I am intrigued by this piece, it may be a good one maybe not. Either way, it's an older veteran presence on the OL similar to Racin, I like experienced pieces as options.

Bama offered Center Racin Delgatty out of Cal Poly

He's started for the last two seasons 22 games played, 1316 snaps played (Has only allowed 1 sack over that time)

I am impressed, definitely against lesser competition but he's got some violence and technique to him. I like his use of hands and when he finds himself with nobody, he doesn't float, he attacks another defender and puts em on the ground. This is the kind of guy I'm interested in from the lower levels....

Bama is hosting NC State WR Noah Rodgers

35 catches for 478 yards. Bama is looking to add some depth to the WR room...I don't know much about this kid..he's a RS Freshman and honestly I think he's something you can take a chance on to develop but I think we'd be better off finding someone from the lower levels for cheap and see if it pans out with a Junior or Senior...everyone said the visit has gone well. He's slated to leave today not much else on this.

Bama is also kicking the tires with a few more...and we're still waiting on Oregon and Ole Miss to start shedding players via the portal...get ready because the next 3 days of portal entries from those schools may be 20+ from each one and then Indiana and Miami will have more when their window opens.

Players have until Friday to enter their name into the portal...the portal doesn't close though for players to return or for players to sign with new schools. It's just the deadline to enter for anyone not in the National Championship game. There is a separate window for Indiana and Miami and it will last for 5 days AFTER the game has concluded.

I will say, this will be people that these teams probably DONT want to keep but a few of these may be guys looking for better paydays or more playing time, so finding the right pieces in amongst the rabble is a good strategy.

ANOTHER NOTE: There is a dead period from January 12-14th this year (Due to a coaching convention) Kind of weird so likely nothing much will happen over the next two days. Doesn't mean we won't have information or signings but there won't be any visitors likely or anything of that nature so don't freak out if it's very quiet for the next two days in the portal...doesn't mean the staff isn't figuring it out.

It isn't that we were the nice guys all the time, It's just that other schools have gone even more so into the "scummy" approach of a used Car Salesman type approach.."Take it or leave it" deals or "sign now or we move on". Bama has in the last two year not done that approach and tried to keep relationships and build bridges together but that may change...the sport is moving in that direction and Bama may have to follow

There is a whole lot of white in that OL. Much like Indiana.

Missing out on those two doesn't bother me in the least. The Barn offered Cam 2 million to stay but his agent wanted 2.5
I don't believe Bama was even at 2 or shouldn't have been. The guy is a slacker.

If I were involved in the process, there would be no such thing as a portal player commitment to Bama. A commit is for high school kids only.
A portal player signs a deal on his visit, or we don't accept any bullshit commitment from pros.

Hard to get exact numbers but Bama was in the ballpark of 2.5 for Cam..Texas reportedly upped the $$ this morning to $3.5 million and Bama said they weren't going to up their price.

Funny that my earlier post was a literal exact replica of what happened...everyone was in the ballpark of 2.5 for Cam and then someone came around and offered $1 mil more...haha gotta pat myself on the back for that. I thought Texas made the most sense for him before that anyways Bama had the edge of TAMU and Texas Tech, but Texas can offer him development, draft pedigree, and a star QB to throw to him along with the $$. Bama was going to be short of the Star QB unless Ty came back for another year.

I think it's worth noting here that in those first few months the locker room was built on "who wants to be here." In the same vein as being alumnus doesn't carry the same meaning with today's athletes, fans struggle with reconciling a lot of these players don't neccessarily "want to be here." They're just about playing ball and its 'benefits.'

It’s hard to reconcile for me the “alumnus” doesn’t hold the same weight for a lot of these players

Yea, it's kinda like that everywhere Smothers and his agent are a perfect example of that. Reports are on the Smothers side, he himself wanted to just stay with Bama but the agent refused to sign the papers and asked him to visit Texas first. Agent won the argument and here we are. Smothers literally left to go get the papers signed by the agent and then come back to move in. Kinda crazy, can't wait for 10 more years from now the ESPN 20 for 20 about the Wild West of the NIL and Rev share era. Behind the scenes stuff of things like this would be very funny to see for some people. It's a crazy world...in recruiting sometimes the parents drive the ship sometimes it's the kids. Now it could be the agent driving the ship...

It could be that I’m delirious or whatever, but I’m not upset about what’s happened in the portal as it pertains to us. I want the right guys, guys that fit us more than the top dudes and the flashy dudes

Gotcha Gotcha! Thanks for explaining a little more to me.
