šŸˆ GAME THREAD 2020-2021 CFB Playoffs and Bowl Games

Florida, who can't run through a wet paper bag, had more rushing yards than Oklahoma had passing yards. Florida also had more passing yards than Oklahoma. But Okie had 3 picks and 435 yards rushing. All that being said, is anyone going to argue that Trask is the best player on Florida's team?

These kids go thru Hell every year and risk life and limb each play! The pandemic doesn’t make things any worse. They say opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink. Fans of other schools have heard from the media/ESPN all year that Trask is so deserving of every honor because he has had to do more with less talent. Then last night, all we hear is Trask shouldn’t be punished because his top targets ā€œopted outā€. Those kids quit on their teammates!!! Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining!!

to emphasize ur point.....they QUIT....on their team and fans...
I always thought...3points:
1,,,,if you are a sceerd to get hurt...tell coach...be there with team...helping other ways...help younger players...dress out....
2....it surely doesnt help you to prepare for nfl by not playing...does it?
3.... its just a.... look at me thing...and

they showed a video of one-of players thatQUIT on his team....really...
Give that asshole video time...during game .....espn F you..

Here's my question: if the bowl games don't mean anything to the players because all they care about is the NFL, then why bother having bowl games at all? I have reached a point in my life that I have no interest in all the bowl games that are played. Of course I will watch Bama, and if there is an intriguing matchup, then I might check it out, but to me bowl season is boring. Multiple teams that I care nothing about and have no desire to watch. Maybe it's time to let the old world bowl system go and find something better with which to replace it. My other thought is that this proves what we have been saying all along. These kids don't care about the college, the fans, or their teammates. They only care about getting to the NFL. Big boy college football has become a pipeline to the NFL, and it has nothing to do with education or academics. So let's stop pretending and treat college football like it is: a minor league for the NFL.

me n you brother....
First...the bowl tie-ins have weakened the bowls.... there are matchups that would be fun....but.....
Second...the importance of bowls.....use to be an honor... nowits only a4 hour sponsorship of cheezits, or advocare, or some other commercial venture...
....teams being handicapped by quitters.... even potential good matchups are crap...see Florida vs ok
...the bowl arent going away....but its time to expand playoffs and get games that matter on the forefront...... let the towns and commercials have the scraps that few want to see

You're basing that on what? Bowl tie-ins have existed for decades with no decline.

You're literally claiming tie-ins are ruining games and then suggesting an expanded system which will include tie-ins.

yep....and tie ins are crap....so what.....use to prevent great possible matchups...
Still do... and really cant judge anything on 2020 .....though... only hours left in this year....

and @rocknthefreeworld ...wouldn’t be bad way....
But...just matching top 6-8-10 is the way it will unfold...
I hope they dont use bowls for early matchups... home of highest ranked...

No, play the Bowls and then pick the TWO teams for the NCG.

lot of ways do. It.....for sure....and nobodys idea is bad....
I want 8 with first 4 games at higher seeded teams stadium

you....2 after bowls
@rocknthefreeworld ....4 after bowls

saw earlier discussion...somebody .wanted back to bcs...lol

some...leave as is...

...nobody wrong or right....

but I would bet.... we are close to going to 8 and use bowl sites...

First of all it's not a big brush because of the rise of college football free agency, which is going to explode this year, which makes college football nothing but a business and proves that academics is not even a thought for these kids. Second, my point is that football is supposed to be a team sport where you put the team first and yourself second. Not because of the fans or the coaches, but because of your brothers with whom you have bled and fought and sweated and puked and struggled through two a days. Think about those kids who practiced their tails off in the summer and stayed with the team all the way through. Do you think they enjoyed getting embarrassed on national TV? Do you think they wondered why they put in all the work and the sweat only to see their teammates abandon them to a crushing loss? Last year, when Bama was not in the playoffs, only two guys opted out. That's because Saban teaches these kids the right way and most buy in. They were committed to their brothers and they played in a meaningless bowl game. And those two guys only opted out because of injury history. Otherwise they would have played. That's what I want to see from every team. That commitment to something bigger than yourself. The desire to do what's right for the team over what's right for you. Unfortunately sacrifice is not something that kids buy into these days. And it's not just their generation. It's been this way for years. We are just now seeing the fallout from the belief that I have to do what's best for me, and screw everyone else. And it's going to get a lot worse.

I would offer that the excessive number of bowl tie-ins have hurt the bowls. Sugar-SEC and Rose-big/pac and Cotton have been around forever. It’s the second and third tier (should they even exist?) that hamper non-power 5 participants. I can’t recall if Bluebonnet/Liberty/Peach of this days had tie ins.
