šŸ“” 2018 NCAA Coaching changes - Former Alabama assistant Derrick Ansley lands at Tennessee

So, the articles should be saying that Auburn pays someone to walk around with the OC title and be the QB coach since Malzahn is going to call plays. I can only figure the pay had to be way too much to turn down since this is not going to help him in any way. If they do well then Malzahn calls the plays so it doesn't help. If they do badly he gets fired and is stuck with the stain of having been an Auburn coordinator.

I think this is what we expected all along. Unlike when Tubberville was there and could swap OC/DC every 3-4 years and keep his job. Gus has burned up all of his good graces, and will be gone after this next year. Everyone knows that Malzahn has been meddling and he has been able to blame those with the title (Lashlee/Lindsey). Now that it is well publicized and documented that Gus is essentially the OC with a pawn that has the title......he is finished. He won't have the talent needed to be successful next year. I can't see them winning more than 8 games (7 regular season).

Auburn hires Memphis OC Kenny Dillingham as the new OC/QB Coach, but it comes with a massive catch...

"Moving forward, Malzahn will return to offensive play calling duties for Auburn, as he did during his first three years as the Tigers' head coach. Additionally, Kodi Burns will add the role of passing game coordinator to his responsibilities."

Kenny Dillingham named Auburn quarterback coach and offensive coordinator - Auburn University Athletics

Priceless
Dilly Dilly?
Also heard Houston Nutt had no interest in the job.:p

Gus still has all the leverage over the barn complex. It is possible I guess that the barn brass made it difficult for Gus to hire his choice due to money and number of years. 2019 is a free shot for Gus in that if he does well he will just bank another 7 million to go with the 7 he just received for 2018 AND if he goes South in 2019 he will get 16-22 million to leave. I can't feel sorry for a football coach that would have made dayum near 60 million in less that 10 years.

Its not really conceivable to the money he makes....he can thank Nick...all these HCs can thank Nick n Alabama..... changed the 1-3 million to 5-10.....
Assistants are cashing in also... and us fans...paying the piper at the stadium gate

Saban's also been responsible for a lot of the coaching "fires" too.... it's no longer good enough to win 9 games... they've upped the salary and upped the expectations too.

It is great that the OTHER schools keep chasing The King because that actually keeps them wasting time on something that can not control. They should be spending every second on their Own Knitting as Coach Bryant used to say. Big Ed at LSU would be better served if he never mentioned Alabama but that 8 in row has those swamp folks all trying to manage two programs.

And I don't let the viles forget for a moment how many Bama guys are on this staff. Now they have a thread looking for Freddie Kitchen as OC. It truly is the merriest time of the year.

The funny thing is that I highly doubt Kitchens is leaving the NFL to come be an OC at any school other than the one sitting in Tuscaloosa.

Source tells FootballScoop Butch Jones has been offered associate head coach role at Maryland; oh, and as for the offensive coordinator there

Sources: Butch Jones could be on the move - FootballScoop

Former USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin has been approached to be Locksley’s offensive coordinator at Maryland, sources said. Locksley originally offered the job to another one of his Crimson Tide colleagues in Josh Gattis, but Gattis is reportedly in the running for the open Appalachian State head coaching position and, as we reported at the time, Saban could make a play to keep Gattis — and Saban usually gets what he wants.

Saban could also make a play to keep Jones, so it is not a done deal that Jones will join Locksley in College Park; but current indications are a deal will be reached.

So Gus hires a guy that looks to be in his mid to late 20’s and give him the title of ā€œoffensive coordinatorā€ while Gus will ā€œresumeā€ the play calling duties that he has meddled in for the past 5 years that has seen 2 of his ā€œyesā€ men fired, Rhett and Chip. To top it off, Kodi Burns is taking the title of ā€œpassing game coordinatorā€. The same Kodi Burns that couldn’t read a defense as a QB so he became a blocking WR.

I should add a caveat to that... if Lincoln Riley really does leave OU to go to the Browns then Kitchens is likely done there and he would probably be more open to this idea.

Good for Butch. With what all Locks said about soaking everything up from Saban and how to run a team, I would imagine he (Locks) would want as many people from the Bama staff he can get. This is huge in helping change the culture at Maryland. The more people on staff that know what you are trying to do internally, the better.
