💬 You're tailgating and all you can bring is fast food. What are you bringing to eat?

I worked at KFC when I was 15, knew the owner. Had an old lady that had been working at his stores for 30 years. Made the slaw fresh every morning in a Rubbermaid tub. She was a dipper, and used the slaw and tub as her spittoon. Said it added flavor. I warned everyone I knew not to eat that slaw. I haven’t had KFC since that summer.

I've heard many talk about their mashed potatoes and gravy. I've never heard anyone say, "let's get some KFC coleslaw." 🤷‍♂️
...personally I can't stomach the fake mashed potatoes and gravy at KFC - but I do like their coleslaw recipe. I make a version of their coleslaw and serve it anytime I make BBQ or smoked chicken. It's pretty much North Alabama white sauce except with buttermilk and cabbage and a little carrot.

See my post a few above yours about KFC cole slaw. The colonel’s receipt wasn’t the only thing with a secret ingredient. Was in Muscle Shoals 😁

yeah, I saw your post...spittin' in the slaw is pretty nasty. Back in the 70's I worked at Wendy's and Pizza Hut and Piccadilly Cafeteria during high school. I don't have any stories like that because I never saw anything like that happen. Maybe it did, but I was unaware of it. Hard to fathom someone being that disgusting to another human - but I know that type is out there. There are some sick people in this world.
.

...if I recall, it was not very long before the were chopped with the spatula and scraped into the chili meat bucket. Certainly not more than maybe 5 or 10 minutes sitting on the "cooler" part of the griddle once they were done. That part always impressed me about Wendy's. You knew you were getting 100% beef hamburger in the chili.

My dad had a few of those around Flint/Detroit. Being the "good son" I know too much about that place: good and bad.

Several years ago he put a "Beware of Alligator" sign over a ditch in front of one of his units; Flint, MI. Drew a lot of traffic.

I think it's been ten years or more since I last ate at a KFC, and that was just to take someone from out of town to The Big Chicken.

Haven't had a reason to be in Marietta in years, so it's been a while since I drove past the Big Chicken.

I also haven't eaten inside a KFC in a while. Last time was about 5 years ago. I was on Holcomb Bridge in Roswell around lunch and remembered that location was one of the few that had a buffet. I'd never done a KFC buffet before - and I was starving. I won't go into gory detail, but let's just say I did not leave hungry. I didn't crave KFC for quite a while after that.

My fried chicken fix now is Publix. If I buy an eight piece for lunch it's gone that day, and if it's for supper, I'll have some cold for breakfast to finish it up.

Publix is pretty dang good - the best if you ask me - as far as grocery store chicken goes. And I have to have my pickled whole jalapenos with my fried chicken...

Dang ya'll making me hungry. I guess a night out at Baby Doe's wouldn't count for tailgating southern style. We loved that place. The orange rolls would make a great tailgate food.. wait I think the orange rolls were from The Club on Red Mountain
