In all fairness, let's set this up properly.

The Florida Gators finished 2013 at 4-8; fifth in the SEC east.

The Miami Hurricanes finished at a somewhat respectable 9-4; third in the ACC Coastal division.

The Florida State Seminoles won the ACC, won the BCS National Championship, but have also chosen to recognize a state championship? Over a 4-8 Florida and a Miami team they've beaten the last four years in a row?

If you haven't guessed it by now, rings for all three!

You're talking as if you've never paid attention to recruiting before. You may think it's gay, I may think it's gay, but evidently Jimbo doesn't. The ring probably doesn't do anything in and of itself, but being the "state champs" is braggable amongst the big three come 'crutin time.

I don't think it does. When you're coming off of an national title and a conference title kids know that. Throwing in the point you won a game against the Gators is also reminding kids that UF had a horrendous season last year. Adding Miami doesn't add any more value considering how that program has been down.

Often I see kids committed that talk about beating another team that has a winning streak against the team they've committed to but I haven't seen a kid mention he's committed because of a winning streak, or game, against another school that's recruiting him. State championships may have meant something 10 or more years ago. But, as I see it, they mean no more than a school "closing the state borders." The recruiting landscape has simply changed that drastically.

The only outlier I see in this is a kid that's been a long time FSU fan. He might enjoy the talk about that ring, but it's not like he'd give the Gators a thought anyway.
