I glanced at their twitter page and the tweets from last night have been deleted—as they should have been.

Here's a copy of them from Hurt's twitter account...

I still haven't made up my mind on how I feel about that, Matt.

It would be one thing if it was one of the employees using their own personal twitter account. It's quite another when they are using the official twitter account of the Red Cross.

Then, when I weigh it against the immediate and concerted efforts by the state of Alabama when their state was ravaged by tornado's?

At the very least it was a <strike>poor exercise</strike><strike> lack of</strike> a display of no judgement.

No I don't think someone should get fired. In this country we have gotten very thin skinned over things like this. Most people like to dish it out but can't take when it comes back.

I don't disagree with people being too thin skinned in today's age.

I do have to ask.

What's been dished out and directed at the Red Cross of Oklahoma?

I made that comment as a general expression. However just because we haven't given them heat has nothing to do with it IMHO. I guess I'm just tired of everything having to be politically correct.

How does it have anything to do with being or not being "politically correct"?

It's a funny comment. But there's appropriate and inappropriate places for such comments, and the social media face of a company is inappropriate lol. It's one thing if it's an employee or volunteer or whatever, but it's super tacky for the company twitter to say it. Not worth firing anyone though.

No disagreement, again.

Setting political correctness aside, is it too much to ask expect people to demonstrate discretion? Especially with an official twitter account?

I can say with no doubt that what an opposing fan says has no influence on how I feel. I can say with no doubt I can't bide stupidity. And this was, well, stupid.

What if a coroner's office tweeted RIP Bama after the game? Would that be appropriate? Really it's almost the same thing.

I don't know about appropriate, but damn funny. I don't have a problem with it. If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

As far as the tweet. poor taste using the red cross twitter account.

Every volunteer for the American Red Cross is required to sign on to an agreement that covers things like proper conduct, confidentiality, and includes a requirement for all volunteers to sign over all copyright/trademark/patent rights in any work-related writing, art and inventions come up with during their term, and for a full year afterward.

In my eyes, that's the crux of the matter.

FWIW, I don't donate to the Red Cross.
