| RECRUIT Yep, Dabo said that: "We built this program on NIL. Probably different than what you're thinking...we built it on God's Name, Image, and Likeness"

A few months ago when I said I was disgusted by the manner Dabo recruited Woods several asked why: here's your sign. With Woods father we saw what amounts to a devotional and a new Bible stuffed full of NIL cash.

The core message his "spill" is based upon is something I'm thankful for—the "spirit" of Christ and his forgiveness.

I see a lot of people who live according to those principles. I see; not I hear.

He's not proselytizing, he's pimping. He's taking the core of a lot of people's beliefs and turning those same beliefs into something akin to an impulse buy at Dollar General—in essence, minimalizing and trivializing a value while turning it into a marketing ploy.

In a football game,a sport: entertainment.

Flip the script a bit, change the players, and I'd get "phobic" attached to my name. It's not an irrational fear; it's simple disgust.

A lot of us who share Dabo’s faith nonetheless know proclamations like the one he made can often cause more harm than good. I have spent some time with him and his wife and I know he’s a true believer … but that doesn’t mean he’s always a wise one. If you met his pastor, you’d understand rather quickly where Dabo gets much of his rhetorical passion from and why, like with this announcement, he’s willing to write spiritual themed checks that just might bounce (see Hugh Freeze). When that occurs, as it often does, his “boldness” will bring condemnation down on all of Christianity. Like you, I have learned the hard way many times over the years to trust people’s actions a lot more than their words. And sadly, in the business world, I’ve also learned the hard way to protect my wallet whenever someone drops Christ’s name in our first meeting.

Haters hate....

I know you like Dabo, but he is a terrible example of a Christian. You and I both know he's one thing on TV while another in person. He is attempting to use our Lord and Savior as a talking point for their faikires in recruiting. That's not very Christian like, it's usung the Lord as a scapegoat. I dislike him very much for this. I'm not perfect either, but I don't use the Lord as a way to disparage others or the fall for my failures.

I hesitate to even post in this thread... people have their opinions of Dabo and they are diamond hardened at this point. I don't care for most of the goof dick stuff he does and says. His "little ole me, aw shucks" act grew old a long time ago. But there's a lot worse human beings in college athletics than Dabo. And it isn't like the guy is universally loved, like someone like Spurrier was. Everyone hates on the guy... fans and national media alike. At some point along the way, it just became the easy and fun thing to do.

And I'll just go ahead and say this too... IMO, good bit of the hate and anger from Bama fans towards him is because he acts like a goober and he's beaten Bama/Saban twice for a national championship... makes that sting burn a little more for some.

***This post isn't meant to be a Pro-Dabo Defense Shield. I just think some of the hatred of the guy is a bit over the top... and much of it in the CFB world is follow the popular leaders bandwagon hatred.

Dabo is not the first to conflate his professional life with his supposed beliefs under a pretty big spotlight. It never seems to age well. Bringing the pedo brother up is kind of a low blow and honestly, only one will stand in judgment of Dabo in the end and it certainly won't be me.

I curse like a sailor but was in the Air Force but I do have great faith in our Lord. Not sure that makes me a hypocrite or just imperfect but it is a character flaw I suppose.

I think the guy probably capitalizes a bit on his faith but he does recruit nationally and his values don't play as well outside of the south and yet he still does okay. He comes across as a doofus but he's a millionaire several times over so, he found something that works for HIM and uses it to his advantage and can laugh all the way to the bank.

Hate. No. Dislike. No doubt. It's beginning with me is found in the '90's and continously reinforced since then.

It never seems to age well. Bringing the pedo brother up is kind of a low blow and honestly, only one will stand in judgment of Dabo in the end and it certainly won't be me.
Knowing both, since they lived in that apartment complex over at 10th and Hargrove, brings us a situation where it's facts versus a perceived low blow.

When DuBose got caught dipping his wick in another's well and started his "repentance mantra" it wasn't accepted well: shouldn't have been.

When Chizik was running with his "God built it" mantra all the while having huge issues within the roster that wasn't accepted: shouldn't have been.

But here, the root of the dislike is because he won a few ball games?

Might as well add Hugh Freeze to this conversation. He put his faith out there for everyone to see, while calling/visiting with escorts/hookers on the side his entire time at Ole Miss. Go further back and he is coaching at a Christian HS and has allegations of being inappropriate with underage girls. Fast forward to Liberty and their issues with sexual assaults and rape allegations and Freeze thrusts himself in to contacting a witness.
I’m a Christian and I have my flaws and imperfections. I guess where people take issue with Dabo is that he professes to be a Christian and building his program in the Name Image and Likeness of God comes across as somewhat blasphemous considering his track record dating back to his time as a DuBose assistant. Maybe I’m wrong and should’ve just read the thread and not comment.

I don't claim to have any intimate knowledge of Dabo but I trust y'all know more than I do. I don't know his track record. I do believe in grace and His grace can forgive track records. Maybe that is the case. I simply don't know. Perhaps he opened himself up to this type of criticism or perhaps old demons just still plague him.

Someone once said, “ your walk talks and your talk talks but you walk talks better than your talk talks!” In other words live your life as an example at all times. Easy to say, difficult to do. I strive daily to walk worthy. Yes, I fail at times but it’s a constant goal.
