šŸˆ Y'all think it's safe to say, "Ty is going to be in NYC?" The Heisman.

Is just my perception we started the pre-season with quite a bit of talk about the trophy but now...crickets? Arch and Nuss to name two.

I've been casually watching news around this year and I've seen Ty referred to more as QB1 (draft references) in the last few weeks than I have about the trophy.

DeBoer commented on it today. (I appreciate the 'our' building.)

In our building, he's not bringing it up and our coaches are not bringing it up.

And this is an issue. Is he going to act like a Captain and put this team first and worry about individual decisions later, or are we thinking about our personal brand and a decision only his play is really going to dictate?
Ty strikes me as a kid that is striving for perfection for his team and takes it hard when he doesn’t succeed. I think a lot of that has to do with his dad’s profession and I’m sure he has set some personal goals, but priority one is his team.

Like someone said previously, he needs two huge games against Eastern Illinois and the barn. If he just goes scorched earth in those...it's possible he makes the trip to NYC. He may not bring it home, but it's very possible he's in the running

Both can be true. He needs a break.

A lot going on in his head right now. Including, is he on the roster in the spring.

I understand what you're saying, but IMO for him, there's really no negative to it either way.... it a win/win option (barring injury) so no reason to stress, IMO.

I see this as almost like a season reset again, like had after the FSU game. He handled that perfectly. Now, he's got more experience to draw on. Get back on track this weekend with some pitch and catch stuff, watch the 4th quarter from the sidelines, and then take that road warrior mentality east to auburn the following week.

He is about to get a prescription filled for a drug called Eastern Illinois. A Saturday afternoon dose of that can, and IMO will, clear his head. It's been a long stretch for him and this team since the UGA game, and they've handled it well overall. For Simpson specifically, he's had to go against some really good defenses, none of which were better than OU's Saturday night. auburn's will be legit, but not at OU's level, certainly not on the middle and backend. Before that though, Simpson can refill his timing, accuracy, and confidence cup against the Panthers in 5 days.
Interesting thing is he had a really good game except for the handful of mistakes that were daggers unfortunately. Still think just remove one of those and Bama probably wins or if the D holds them to 3 instead of 7. They were that close to wnning that game despite those mistake and the narrative would be much different. I felt better about the OU game than I did South Carolina or LSU games.

Yep... a handful, litertal handful, of bad plays. And seems like every one of them bit him in the ass in the worst possible way. He had 42 attempts in the game, same as the South Carolina game, 1 fewer than at FSU. He completed 28 of them, fairly substantially higher than those other 2 games (against a better OU defense). He got more exotic looks from the Sooners than he's seen all year, maybe aside from FSU since that was his first real action, and again, OU has better players, that are also better coached.

In the game itself, he had some issues with the pressure... 1 led to a pick 6, something we haven't seen out of him. Another led to a sack/fumble, which is an issue lately, even a trend. He's got to speed his clock back up like he did after the FSU game. Understand that a throwaway is fine on most drives. Punting is ok. The defense is proving they can handle things better now and pick the offense up. He's also been an off on (by the stands he's set) accuracy wise the last few games. One thing I'm seeing is, he has guys open and that touch he displayed early in the season just isn't there. He's throwing Paul Skenes fastballs when often times Jamie Moyer fastballs will suffice. The balls are sailing on him or diving on him, leading to incompletions on what many would be big gainers... even touchdowns. But overall, he's still making the right decisions when he's decisive about it. Yes, as mentioned, the Sooners burned him with the blitz some, but he scorched them a time or two as well and ended up 6 of 8 when under pressure.

He's a little bit off, timing wise in the pocket and with his throws. Hopefully two weeks of practice, a glorified scrimmage leading into auburn will get him right in both areas. He and the staff found the right answers after the FSU game. I believe they will again.

Only puzzling thing to me continues to be how they perform in the 1st half versus the 2nd half. Just seems to be missing something or the D's are adjusting and Grubb does not have an answer to what they are doing.

Some of it is adjustments. I think some of it too, this offense works better when they can make some headway on the ground. As a game wears on, and less and less of that is happening... it's advantage defense.... it's like taking chess pieces off the board.

With the number of plays Bama had against the OU Defense seems like the opposite would have happened. In general.the OL seemed to get a lot more push at the line of scrimmage in this game but still only managed one score in the 2nd half. This is indeed a trend and not a good one for whatever reason.

FWIW, Bama ran 13 less plays in the 2nd half than the 1st against OU and of those, attpented 20 less passes (31 vs. 11).

Ty is a pretty good QB. He has a really good arm and agility. I believe he is smart enough to be a complete college QB. I really don't give a shit about pro football so whether he makes it to the NFL isn't a big item for me. I hope he does and makes a truckload of money.

Watching these games weekly I keep saying to myself that Ty is being asked to throw some very difficult passes and he had a ton of success. These aren't easy open patterns. Ty started to struggle vs USCe and since then we see the same thing every week. The fact we have such a weak running game makes any mistake by Ty even more magnified. The RB room at Bama this season has to mid-level in the SEC. The OL might not be the 68 Green Bay Packers but, but these backs are the Main Reason for the failure of this offense. Coach Bryant would have loved to have Jam in the 70's for his wishbone and he would be fighting Johnny Davis for minutes at fullback.
