🏈 WK2: SEC/NCAA Games of the Week.

10 of those 17 games are at UT.
Two came at Cincy (against OU and Louisville who had 12 and 11 wins on the season, respectively. Lost by four points combined.)

That stat seems damnable. But, I don't think it takes the entire story in context.

Butch Jones is 13-14 at Tennessee, Dooley at one point in season 3, but he didn't accomplish that until game 5. Butch Jones reached it by game 2 of season 3, he's failing faster with better talent.

You're saying Jones is failing faster than Dooley. You've lost me a bit on this sentence.

Better talent? Based on what? I'd say the hole he has had to dig out of is deeper than the one Dooley had.

You got it, Jones is failing faster than Dooley is what I'm suggesting. With regards to better talent, perhaps that was a big leap. Looking back at average ranking prior 4 years, Jones does have better classes than Dooley by a hair and not to mention better than 1/2 of Kiffin's recruiting class was gone quickly.

Year / Rankings / Notes
2014 = 7 (Butch Jones)
2013 = 24 (Butch Jones hired Dec)
2012 = 20 (Jim Chaney)
2011 = 14 (Derek Dooley)
2010(*) = 9 (Derek Dooley hired in Jan trying to keep Kiffin's recruits)...and more than 1/2 of Kiffin's recruits were gone.
2009 = 10 (Lane Kiffin hired end of Nov, had two months to shore up the recruiting class)
2008 = 35 (Fulmer done)
2007 = 3
2006 = 23
2005 = 4
2004 = 13T
2003 = 18
2002 = 2
Average = 14.1

LSU had 47 rushing attempts and 14 passing attempts, they continue to have QB issues. You guys want to talk about a team with QB issues, LSU is that team.

Texas beats Rice 42-28, Texas QB play was 5/10 for 128 yds (where 101 yds came from 2 receptions, 32 yds and 69 yds). Another team with QB issues...

@planomateo Jones is 1-9 against ranked opponents at UT, right?

I saw a stat where UT is 2-34 in their last 36 games against ranked opponents with one of those wins falling to Jones' credit.

Very little difference, but what I'm seeing is an improved Tennessee team. One that hasn't figured out how to finish, no doubt. Never-the-less, the best team they've had since 2009, IMO.
