Ole Miss reportedly asked for Robert Nkemdiche to be removed from the Lott Trophy consideration.

“We do not have a specific academic criteria, such as a minimum grade point average. We ask the Sports Information Directors if their student-athlete is attending and passing classes. In the case of Nkemdiche, Ole Miss notified us after the season began that they felt he did not qualify academically for our award.”.

How can his grade not be good for this trophy, but he can play football? Just asking?

Crazy little observation here ... make of it what you may.

UNC currently sits at 4-0 in conference play, 7-1 overall. That sole loss was to UofSC to open the season. South Carolina, as we well know, is in a free fall.

Is the loss to UofSC an indictment on the ACC and its level of play or just a horrible game to open the season. If you recall, UNC had two passes intercepted in the end zone against the 'Cocks.

But Auburn has found some offensive rhythm with freshman quarterback Shawn White, and Ole Miss hasn't won at Jordan-Hare Stadium since Eli Manning's senior season, 2003

Where are people getting this shit from?

In the last game, White's QBR was it's lowest of 2015. In the last four games his completion percentage has gotten worse with each game played. The lone game that's worse was their season opener with Johnson forgetting what colors Auburn wears.

BUT, they've found a rhythm?

I'll defer to Rose Royce on this one ...

Glancing across the college football landscape:

TCU, Baylor, Ohio State, and Michigan State have beaten one ranked (AP) team this season ... combined. If you like, we can add Clemson into this mix. Their win over a ranked Notre Dame team—combined with the other four teams—makes two combined wins with five teams over teams ranked in the AP top 25.

As of this morning, here's the number of teams they have left on their schedules that are currently ranked.

Clemson: 1 - FSU
Baylor: 3 - OU, TCU, Okie State
Michigan State: 1 - OSU
TCU: 3 - OU, Baylor, Okie State
OSU: 2 - MSU, Michigan

Five teams, 12 ranked opponents.

As of today: Bama: Half of the regular season schedule will be games against ranked teams.

One team playing six, five teams playing 12. Geez, the disparity.

Academic eligibility isn't something that's determined within a semester. As simply as I can put this ... eligibility, in the fall, is based on the preceding term. IE: If an athlete doesn't earn at least six credit hours in the fall they wouldn't be eligible in the spring. With Nkemdiche, his eligibility for this fall very well may fall back to last spring, or one of their summer sessions.

(It's not uncommon for players to have a lighter course load/hours in the fall and make up those "lost hours" over the spring and summer months. One big key is the percentage of course work completed by established time limits. IE: 40% of course work required for a degree must be completed by the end of year two. Nkemdiche would need 60% of his course work completed by the end of his third year. One would have to look up the date he started school/classes to find the exact numbers.)

Sounds like Nkemdiche might look at being ineligible come bowl time. But then again, Ole Miss will likely find a way for him to make up all credit needed to maintain eligibility. They will hold a presser to announce that their was an oversight on their part and that it was their mistake to ask that he be taken off of the Lott Trophy list.

All depends on what is considered "preceding academic term" with Ole Miss. Theoretically, he could pass six units/hours this fall and still be an academic casualty due to how many units finished by the end of the third year. IF the end of that happens to be after their first spring term ...

All goes back to when he started class.

No, Fedora and the OC should be fired for that loss. It was/is one of, if not THE most stupid losses of the 2015 season. The UNC RB was running all over SC. The damn passes should never have been thrown. Even after the INTs, UNC had an opportunity to win the game and the RB wasn't even on the field! STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!

Edit: Elija Hood, UNC RB, had 138 yards rushing on 13 carries in that game. :eyeroll: Why in the hell are you throwing the damn ball!?
