You can teach and old dog new trick!Academic eligibility isn't something that's determined within a semester. As simply as I can put this ... eligibility, in the fall, is based on the preceding term. IE: If an athlete doesn't earn at least six credit hours in the fall they wouldn't be eligible in the spring. With Nkemdiche, his eligibility for this fall very well may fall back to last spring, or one of their summer sessions.
(It's not uncommon for players to have a lighter course load/hours in the fall and make up those "lost hours" over the spring and summer months. One big key is the percentage of course work completed by established time limits. IE: 40% of course work required for a degree must be completed by the end of year two. Nkemdiche would need 60% of his course work completed by the end of his third year. One would have to look up the date he started school/classes to find the exact numbers.)
