🏈 With the new coaching hire, set your emotions aside before passing final judgment...

Regarding Doug Nussmeier:
Found it interesting that he was pulled from Fresno State to Washington (I believe) the year after McElwain was pulled from Fresno to Bama. Without looking a numbers, his resume reads alright enough (i.e. split time between the Pros and College, serving as both OC and QB coach).

Regarding Lance Thompson:
I have to allow my faith in CNS to overtake my initial blood preasure spike. I do recall his sick pay increase in going to Knoxville, and there was the story about Coach Taylor and his wife. It may indeed be not as offensive as it first seems.

Great, you know when someone tells you to "calm down" it's gonna be bad.

I've been gone all weekend and totally out of the loop. I was actually supposed to be in Huntsville all weekend on a layover. Believe it or not I bid it to take my kids to Space Center and to shop for national championship items. Then, out of the blue when my family is already at the airport to come with me Delta reroutes me to freaking New Hampshire! Ugh, needless to say there was no national championship stuff there.

OK, I'll try to handle the bad news about our hire without freaking out.
No guarantees though.

Love how you put news that you might not like in the "bad" category without hesitation.

I am now trying to set my emotions aside before passing final judgment. :headscratch: :dazed:

After Lance left there were a few things he did that didn't sit well with me, but I completely understood them and didn't/can't hold them against him.

Outside of football, the same.

I want you to consider this.

We are roughly four to six weeks removed from conversations about Dameuyne Craig coming in state recruiting and some of the antics he's been up to, remember? In this state, Lance can get a handle on that.

Let's go a step further with Lance.

Consider his role in putting together the 2008 class and how that class has impacted the last two NC's.

The word that comes to mind is penance.

Have you considered how many rings Lance has to show for the work that went into building that class? He's had to sit in Knoxville of all places listening to Vol fans talk about Saban and Alabama winning two rings in three years.

That kind of thing? That really hits the competitive spirit in a man. Lance has that.

A year spent under Monte couldn't have hurt either, ya know?

Didn't like how he left but if Saban wants him then at this point I'm behind him 100%. Plus I kind of feel that Lance Thompson got his just desserts when Kiffin pulled his disappearing act. Welcome back Coach Thompson.

I'm just surprised Saban would even consider taking him back. He had some strong criticism for the way he left. This would be a head scratcher if true.

Tell me what you remember. I recall criticism for the timing of when he left.

If you recall, it was right in the middle of January. In fact, I am tempted to say the news story broke on the 15th. But, I digress.

There was a lot of fans fretting about signing day. After all, we had just landed the #1 class in the nation. There were the same number of fans ignoring the point it was in the middle of a dead period as well.

(Brandon, Argo. Gosh, is this coming back to you now?!?!?!?)

We had three guys on the board that hadn't committed yet; Dre' and Kendall Kelly were the two names everyone was fretting over. I can't tell you HOW many times (someone run a search on that, will ya?) the three of us were saying, "Don't worry!!! We've got those two, plus Moore, and a suprise out of Louisaiana." As it ends up, we got two out of Louisiana that day; Lacy and Bell.

The timing...as it ended up, a non-issue.

Dalliances off the field? That shouldn't enter the question of this hire.

So...

Where's the beef?
