🏈 why's jim brown so butt hurt

Both good questions...can't figure out what good it does anyone to criticize Trent. I've only seen comments abt Brown's statements. Did he mention any specific weakness he saw w Trent?

More criticism for Trent Richardson from NFL legend Jim Brown

NFL Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown stirred up controversy before this year's NFL Draft by declaring that former University of Alabama running back Trent Richardson was "ordinary".

Richardson was selected in the first round by Brown's former team the Cleveland Browns, and the NFL legend has chimed in once again with criticism for the former Heisman candidate.

"I think the kid is a good working back, and if you've got everything else around him he can play his role," Brown said of Richardson in an interview with WKNR radio in Cleveland. "But when it comes to outstanding, I don't see anything outstanding about him. It's not said in a cruel manner. He's very efficient, and that's what you want."

"I'm not trying to be mean. There are certain people you look at and there's something special about them. I don't see it."

Brown acknowledged Richardson's impressive strength during the interview but said that strength does not matter as much as speed and quickness in the NFL.

"But you're not going to make it with strength and ordinary speed and quickness," Brown said. "I don't think it's even an issue. When you deal with Richardson, he comes out of that Alabama mold. He'll work hard for you, and he's kind of an all-around back. But if you look at Cleveland, I would have gotten me a couple of receivers."

the context of his interviews, but damn dude... move the f on.

Has me wondering, how good would Jim Brown be in today's NFL.

Well, he's in his seventies, so he may have lost a step or two :biggrin_blue:.

He was dominant in his day. No one else had his combination of power and speed. Same size range as Bo Jackson or Hershel Walker, but not quite that fast. Not sure what he said about TR or the context of it, but sounds like a fit of jeaolousy over a marquee running back showing up in his old stomping grounds.

He would be very good today, but he'd be playing in an era where there are a lot of linebackers just as big and just as fast.

yeah, he was a very bad man back in the day on the field - but as you suggest, be playing bigger and faster lineman, linebackers, and secondaries. He'd be good today, but not nearly as good as he was then in my opinion...

I just don't get the whole, let me crap on current players/coaches thing he is doing...not like he still lives in Cleveland anymore.

Maybe he is willing to get on the "Pro's vs Joe's" tv series ;)

he should just shut up and i say that as a Browns fan and probably speaking for the rest of us. i obviously havent seen him play back then but got enough respect for the mans legacy, but this is not the first time in recent years that he has talked crap, im hope that I dont end up being that bitter at his age

You had to be glad Cleveland picked Trent. Before that choice, we all questioned your taste when it came to NFL teams Rene.
