| FTBL Who would be your picks for the three greatest Alabama linebackers ever?

I was too young to see Lee Roy play in college, but remember him with the Cowboys. I know about the 30-tackle bowl game he had against Oklahoma, if I recall correctly, and Bear's quote about Lee Roy tackling sideline-to-sideline. What I find odd is he's listed in Alabama's media guide as an All-American center in 1962 with no mention of him as an All-American linebacker and he's listed in the college football hall of fame as a center.

Played both ways as there was not full substitution.....ie. Couldn't substitute a full 11 after change of possessions

So many played both ways... why he was listed as just center... i don't know....

The all time tackles leader hasn’t been mentioned!! Wayne Davis!! Known as Joe Pound at Gordo HS back in the day.

Like him or not.. McCants and McClain were just natural freaks.. I remember both of them rundown someone that they shouldn’t have caught from behind, with a huge lead..(in different eras)..

I had always thought. McCants was going to be big time nfl

I'm thinking of the 89 Iron Bowl in JH stadium. We were undefeated and #2. He made a tackle on a WR who was destined for a TD.

Different eras:
Lee Roy Jordan and Wayne Davis,
Cornelius Bennett and Derrick Thomas
McClain and Ryan

Derrick Thomas (hands down #1)(any list that doesn’t include him is a bogus list)

Lee Roy Jordan (a true baddass, man among boys in his day)

Cornelius Bennett (definition of the word freak)
