I don't know, but Alabama has the best rushing defense in the nation.

As of now, if you are a running back on an opposing team, things don't look too promising for you when playing Alabama.

There have been 68 rushing attempts for a net total gain of 128 yards. That equals out to 42.7 yards a game, on the ground, for opponents.

I would think that once SEC play develops into mid-season or so Auburn and LSU would be up top with Alabama close behind. We lack the depth and experience that AU and LSU bring.

That is certainly a possibility. As of this moment though, Alabama has the best rushing defense not just in the SEC, but in the nation.

I really don't see many teams in the SEC that would have a better possibility of running against 'Bama's defense than Clemson did though.

CAN I SAY SOMETHING?

We need to re-look at the #'s in a month! We havent played the SEC teams to boast the top stats. Why arent the BCS polls out yet? Because week 1-6 starts everything. Lets talk about this is a couple of weeks!

this is positive news. There is a long season ahead but this is great news after 3 games one being Clemson with what is to be considered to be the best running back duo in the nation.

Look, I was worried after the Tulane game but look what they did with the hottest team going in Eastern Carolina!!!

Everything is looking good so far. It may go to sh** if a few games, but it is something to celebrate for the time being IMHO!!

You can say anything you like, the rolltide, that is all I am doing.

I don't know why so many of you do not even like for anyone to bring up anything positive. It is like you are afraid good news is going to jinx 'Bama or something.

Could you imagine Oklahoma or USC or Ohio State, etc... having the best rushing defense in the nation and all of their fans afraid to even mention it on a message board.

That would be bizarre.

Scoring Defense

Alabama is currently ranked 9th in the nation in the category of scoring defense. They score an average of 7.67 points a game.

Nah, Alabama is only jinxed by what I wear, how I sit, what jumbotron I look at, who I bring to the game, etc... :D

I am personally to blame for a few losses along the way.

Thanks for your permission but i knew i could talk! :D

Second, lets play some meaningful games before we start saying how great are defense.
I now we have played some tough teams but we need to get some reall hard games under us before we start saying how great are d-fense is.

They only person you can say how great is, would be John Parker Wilson!!!

And nick.... :D

ahhhhh......now we have someone to blame!!! :D :D

in reference to the lack of depth and experience vs. LSU and AU. Along with that comes a level of improvement that experienced defense don't have vs. a young defense.

To put more clearly LSU and AU's defenses have almost reached their ceiling when it comes to how good they will become. They will get a little better but not much. As for our defense we are still on the 1st floor. With that being said and the fact we are competing with them NOW. Imagine how it will be the closer we come to our ceiling. :D
