We will be starting a Junior QB in his third season with the same head coach, and second with the same OC.

Two of our OL losses are major, but we have an outstanding JUCO coming in, and DJ Fluker will eventually make people forget about Andre. He is bigger, stronger, and faster than Andre was as a frosh - he needs experience though. Tyler Love and Barrett Jones are not chopped liver, Cardwell will be a Senior, and Vlachos is pretty good. It also helps that Bob Connely is not our OL coach. All in all, I would say our OL will still be among the top units of the SEC next season.

Throw in a more experienced Coffee, Ingram, and Upchurch, add in Trent Richardson (who may be better than any of them), and our running game may be improved.

Julio will be back and improved, as will our entire senior receiving corp. Add in Kendall Kelly and (maybe) Reuben Randall, and the new QB will have a pretty solid supporting cast.

Our defense will be better. We lose Rashad and Greenwood, but there will be little drop off in the replacements, and the surrounding cast will improve. Another year in the system and our defense is going to be deadly.

Honestly, we should be top 5 in the preseason...but I bet we won't be.

Don't underestimate the loss of Marlon Davis. He gets overshadowed by Smitty and Caldwell, but he has been a hoss for us this season and will not be easily replaced.

I say its like a punishment for Bama and their fans that they will be matched up with Utah. I mean come on, really? Utah? what are they in the WAC MAC? I looked at their schedule and its a JOKE. Other than Oregon State from the POWERHOUSE :roll: PAC-10 and Michigan (i give them props for that one, how could they have known how bad Mich would suck), who have they played? their schedule looks like a who's who of SEC homecoming opponents. Im sorry if this sounds elitist but well, it is. I think there are too many Div 1A teams. Utah, Boise should not be allowed in the BCS at all. Not until they go the route FSU and Miami did in the 70's and 80's. They will get 0 respect from me until they EARN it. I wrote a post about this a few weeks ago and it still makes me mad.

It's probably not a good idea to underestimate an undefeated team Division 1 team, regardless of their conference. Those teams show up to bowl games quite motivated.

I think the regular season should count for a lot, so I don't like anything more than 4 teams in a playoff. A plus 1 system is good for me. Every BCS conference should have a conference championship game though.

Bran, it doesn't looks like that regular season game between Texas and Oklahoma counted for much, does it?

That's just some more of the BCS bs propaganda to keep the masses appeased. The playoff system works well for all the other divisions; you can't convince me that it wouldn't for the FBS either.

I respect Utah for what they've done and if they pull the upset and beat Alabama...I'll be the first in line to offer a hand shake.

However...if they get blown out 55-6...who's fault is that? Not Utah, but the BSSSSSSSS!!!!!

In my opinion this is a no win situation for Bama. Slam Utah by 50 and get no respect. Get beat by Utah and get laughed out of New Orleans.

I'll gladly take a Sugar Bowl victory and consider this season a blessing, but Bama vs Utah is a game that should NEVER HAPPEN unless it's on the hardwood.

Dont misunderstand me now, if Bama doesnt show up, they could lose to Utah. What Im saying is the Utes have played a pathetic schedule and therefore dont deserve to be in a BCS game. People want to complain that the BCS is a "big boys club". Well, it is and it should be. How long has the scholarhip limitations been in place? How many of these non traditional teams have won an NC? If Bama had Utah schedule they could go 12-0 every year.

Neither did the UF/Ole Miss game. I just get tired of seeing these horrible bowl matchups every season, and now, more and more, the bad matchups are finding their way into the BCS games. Look at the Sugar Bowl last year. Look at the Orange Bowl this year. There will be more folks watching re-runs of Home Improvement on Nickelodeon that night than there will people be watching Cincy take on VaTech.

The bottom line is Utah should be going against Boise State or Ball State in some pre-Christmas bowl sponsored by a candy bar.

As for playoffs, I think something should be done, but there is simply no need for 16 teams to enter into a playoff. If you are not in the top 4-8 teams at the end of the season, you don't deserve a shot IMO. It apparently ain't ever going to happen though, kinda like a major player 3rd party system in politics, so I don't invest much into it.

Fiesta Bowl officials are going to pull to get Texas in Tempe, I'm sure. I can't blame them to be honest. And, given these picks are largely motivated by ratings a TX vs OSU match-up would do well.

I haven't watched any of Utah's games this year, but I know they played TCU very close and that's a team that has a solid defense. They've beaten Oregon State.

I'd dare say, if Utah were to play UK, as example, they'd have a pretty good chance to win. In fact, they'd probably give half of the SEC bowl eligible teams a hard fought ball game.

I know I'm being picky, but by my count it's 3 with Utah (W), Boise State (W) and Hawai'i (L). Notre Dame has been twice, if I recall correctly, losing both games.
