šŸˆ Where’s Terrion Arnold?

Lack of INTs is a scheme issue.

If Arnold can tackle, they could look at him at safety, because they need better coverage safeties moving forward

I think he needs to be on the field and I suggested as a Safety myself. Wasn't he recruited at Safety? Him and Ricks play with an edge whereas Battle and Kool-Aid are WAY more laid back. Hence why they aren't flashing this year in my mind.

I am disappointed in the fact that none of our inside backers can stop the runner in the hole. We seem to let them gain at least a couple of extra yards each time. See Henry after Rick’s PI in the end zone. LSU runs from the 2 yard line. Henry hits the guy about a 1/2 yard behind the LOS & the guy stumbles into the end zone. Disappointing….
Part of the problem in my opinion is Saban’s defensive schemes haven’t changed much since his LSU days but he’s recruiting smaller, faster, more athletic quick twitch ILB’s who can cover better. His schemes require the down lineman to eat up the blocks so the inside linebackers can meet the back in the hole. That worked great when Bama had 6’4ā€ 245lb players in those positions but hasn’t worked so great since.

I think Kool Aid has been pretty great at CB. Ricks is improved.

Battle hasn't tackled well and he hasn't hardly broken on a ball all year at FS. It's like that position has done nothing all year. Hellams got exposed vs. Hiatt but has played better than Battle.

Arnold has good enough size and good ball skills and can tackle. He would make a very good FS IMO. Hopefully Downs comes in and can play SS - there's also Devonta Smith, Story, and Antonio Kite.

Safety has to get better cover guys there going forward.

Kool Aid has been good as a punt returner, but he is a liability in coverage. For every pass defense there is a pass interference penalty that absolutely kills us. He has been far from great in my eyes.

I hope Downs sticks with Bama.

I disagree strongly. He's been great. Has gotten some PIs, but how many recently? I honestly don't remember. He's not getting beat deep

How many quarterbacks of note have we played though? His penalties come at some of the most crucial points of the game that allow drives to continue. To me he isn't learning how to get away from those calls he gets popped with almost every game. He has more confidence this year I will say that, but you always have to wonder if they learn from mistakes and can get better. I cannot with an honest face say that I have seen that from him considering the amount of playing time he has received the last two seasons, and as a five star corner out of high school.

Brandon gave the stats, but that doesn't seem like many penalties - 4?

Dude looks great to me.
