Of the 119 coaches…

- 53 are out of coaching today. The latest being Bob Stoops after his retirement on Wednesday. Stoops had been the longest-tenured head coach in FBS.

- 11 are still in the same role: Mike Gundy, Gary Patterson, Kirk Ferentz, Mark Dantonio, Pat Fitzgerald, Kyle Whittingham, Nick Saban, Frank Solich, David Bailiff, Rick Stockstill and Troy Calhoun. (Randy Edsall is also still at UConn, but with stops in between. Bobby Wilder is still the Old Dominion coach, but ODU wasn’t FBS at the time).

- 25 are head coaches at a new school today — Dan Hawkins the only one in FCS.

- 1 is an NFL head coach: Pete Carroll. Seven others are NFL assistants: Ron Prince, Bill Callahan, Ron Zook, Karl Dorrell, Sylvester Croom, Al Golden and Derek Dooley.

- 1 coach is in Italy. Chris Ault recently won the Italian Bowl.

- 1 is a university president: Jim Tressel at Youngstown State.

- 3 are now high school coaches: Jeff Jagodzinski, Bill Cubit and Todd Dodge

Counted 9 that won NCs and are now outta coaching...
It's more than that by a quick count.

Erickson, Carroll*, Paterno, Tressell, Carr, Brown, Stoops, Chizik, B. Bowden, Miles, Spurrier, and Fulmer. (Carroll only because he's no longer in collegiate coaching and Joe Pa because he's ... well, not coaching anymore.)

Coach Jags (former BC coach) is on 92.9 the game here in ATL time to time as a guest of course. I believe he still works with the Falcons in some capacity (not sure so don't quote me). He is awesome!

Yep. Missed it... that is really unreal that many highly successful coaches aren't employed
Especially like Miles n Fulmer...no scandal..just replaced after a couple of mediocre years... Stoops will be back if there isnt a medical problem...Tennessee or Auburn have a bad year..watch out...
