Butter on / in biscuits definitely southern. I’ll bet the Yankees brought toast down here during reconstruction.
The real history of toast
Not so fast blaming the yankees. In the beginning (or near enough), there was bread. But in the beginning there was no grocery store, baker, fridge or freezer, so a lot of this bread became stale. Probably at some point, somebody got fed up with stale bread and tossed a piece of it in the fire, or at least meant to. Instead, it landed nearby, browned in the glow of the flames, someone found it, bit into it, and voila: toast. A lot of early inventions must have sparked from such frustration.

The Egyptians generally get credit for leavened bread: the British Museum houses 5,000 year old Egyptian loaves, and King Tut was buried with a stalk of wheat, the symbol of Royalty. But Romans usually get the credit for toast. Whether they actually discovered that fire plus bread equals an entirely different savory golden-brown treat, or whether they just liked the idea and popularized it, is uncertain, but either way they took charge of the branding. ā€œTostumā€ is Latin for scorched, and toast was made by putting stale bread on a stone near fire, and later, on a wire frame over fire.

Yes. BBQ originated in the carribean. The Spaniards discovered that method of cooking and brought it to the southern states. It ain't a Yankee traditional way of cooking.

Regionally BBQ starts out in the south east with whole pig cooked low and slow and GA & AL with pulled pork and ribs. The further west you go the more beef and ribs you see with Lousiana bringing ham. It's weird that Texicans don't do pulled pork as a rule except in chain restaurants.( They boil their ribs so they don't count.) Texicans do pork ribs and they are good

Memphis is about the best representation of traditional BBQ but I believe Big Bob Gibson in North AL has won just about all the contest you can win.

Brinner is pretty much a once-a-month or more thing around here. Sometimes biscuits and gravy, sometimes sausage/bacon and pancakes/waffles, sometimes just eggs with a meat and biscuits or toast.
Yeah, same with my house.

It's actually been a couple months since we last had a good brinner. So we're overdue.

Thanks to @planomateo I'm throwing down some biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs and grits tonight after work. Already sent Mrs. SLO on the supplies mission... Lol.

Speaking of breakfast, I'll be up in the Great White North next weekend, I'll snap a picture of some hash browns I had up there last time. Nothing fancy, they just used a larger grater to make the potato shavings bigger than what you normally get and the potatoes were outta Whitehall, MT. Had them a few times when I was up there in December.
