🏈 What would be your game plan to attack LSU

Spread em out early... come out right off the bat with 4/5 wide, empty backfield... I dont necessarily mean go deep just spread em out and dink and dunk em to death... force em to get out of that 9 in the box look. Do a little no huddle. Then settle back into our offense, pound on em but do some early down passing, play action and some shotgun. I know alot of ppl got on Coach Mac for "trying the trick play" late but you cant blame the play call... it was there... Williams was WIDE OPEN maybe it shouldnt have been called but only because Maze was hurt and really couldnt get much on the pass so Im fine if we wanna pull something wild out at some point. The fake FG worked against Arky and the Flea Flicker worked against Auburn. Maybe even break back out the double reverse pass we used against Arky in '09. Let Maze and Bell go deep make them respect it, but definitely get #3 his touches.

Defensively we gotta watch for the option, that was pretty much the ONLY positive offense they had the first game and Georgia Southern gave us fits with the Triple Option (I know the same thing exactly). We have to be ready for it this time. Dre has to have Randle on lock again... hit Jefferson early and often. I wouldnt mind Dont'a or Upshaw even hitting him regardless of whether he pitches it or not on the option, make him think about it.

Special teams... MAKE THE KICKS!

pretty much the same thing we did in the first game. run the ball, get trent involved in the passing game, take some shots down field...only difference is we need to avoid mistakes, and execute including on special teams.

Like was mentioned....on defense we need to be ready for the option....you got to believe they saw what Georgia Southern did to us and are going to try the same.

the game plan that was used in the first game was pretty good with the exception of what occurred once we reached the 50. due to the speed of LSU's defense the aversion to risk has to be kicked to the curb once we are near or past the 50. i suggest taking several shots at the endzone early in this one. if you connect it's a huge deal.. if you don't it's either incomplete or a great punt. yes, there is a possibility of int with return but not that likely.

that also will help open up the running game for TR and EL behind the LBs... not to mention the screen game which could have been better in the first matchup.

on another note... i think Alabama's offense learned some things about itself in the last few games of the season. things that will be helpful against LSU. the short passing game may be the ticket.

I think we do what we did on 11/5 as far as attacking the defense. We moved the ball well on them but then allowed WRs to throw deep balls and TEs to allow DBs to rip the ball from their hands. As for our defense, we did well shutting them down. People like to think they hurt us with the option in the first round but they didnt run it that effectively at all, it was just the only thing that even slightly worked for them. As for special teams, go for it on 4th and kick the ball out of bounds or onsides on kickoffs

Throw it early, stretch the field to open up lanes for Trent--do so before they make their adjustments and salt the clock away in the second half.

Maze, Hanks, et. al will be the key.

i would throw to trent on some wheel routes. try to get a good matchup with him and a linebacker. also do the same with the tight ends.i do believe that we need to take a couple shots down the field to relax the defense. we have to be aggressive with our play calling. imo i think we need to open them up with the passing game then start to pound them while also staying balanced. trick plays are fine with me. anything to keep them off balance and guessing what we will do next. but i think our biggest asset/their mismatch would be trent out of the backfield and tight ends. that why i said open up with that maybe get a quick score from it but pretty sure we would move the ball effectively that way on the first series or two.

Flake earlier answered "...malke your FGs", chewing on that for a while I think those words do a fine job of summing up my thoughts.

OFFENSE:
LSU is young (but not inexperienced) and plays more so off passion than does Bama. Bama's Offense is who we are, that is to say we do our thing well and would be foolish to tinker too much with what worked (but for getting into the Red Zone). Sooner of later that passionate youth on the Tiger Defense will make a mistake whereby we need to be ready to cooly take advantage of that.

Focus on that last 40 yards. Be purposeful about keeping yourself out of 3rd and longs, so that a power run is a legitimate option that the Tigers have to cover. Throw to the TE short. Stretch the DBs to the endzone.

DEFENSE:
Jarrett Lee and his arm are not a threat. Jeffereson on the Option and Randall on short passes are the concern. Where we have had the time to get disciplined with the option, the health of our DBs will be a point that I will be holding my breath regarding. If we have be effective enough and fast enough with our pass rush, I think that we can get into JJ's head which would help to make them more of a one dimisional team. Don't get me wrong, we have to first stop their RBs, but the second task on the list is in the same neighborhood - shut down the option. After that, the pass if addressed with pass rush and disciplined DB play.

SPECIAL TEAMS:
Make you kicks.

One more thing. The trainers should be replacing the brightly colored rehydration drinks in the coolers with clean clear water at the end of the thrid quarter. 12-14 ox of water, so as to not get coach too wet. And water at exactly 87 degree F, because coach wants to avoid any photos with his face frozen in a reaction to iced wetness.

I wouldn't change a darn thing. Special Teams needs to do a better job of setting the offense up with field position. We moved the ball fine last game, but our average starting position was horrible. It's ALWAYS going to be tough to move the ball 80 yards on a good defense.

Defensively, I'd play a bunch of zone coverage, and tell our linemen to try and force Jefferson to his left.

Also had a thought the other day. With all the talk about "stopping the option", I wouldn't be surprised to see and Option Pass come out if our DB's are forced to have to come up and help.

GAH! I can't wait!
