🏈 What out of confrence games would you like to see

I don't know Bran.

Now that we've got companies like Chic-Fil-A having their extravaganza, Jerry Jones getting involved, and whatever else is in the works (you know there are some) we'll probably get to see a good OOC game occasionally. Once a year maybe?

I do see the death of home and home series. Unless they started the season and had prime time slots guaranteed for back to back years.

I would like to see Oregon, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. But, my top two would be Notre Dame and Oregon.

Speaking of OCC and all that I heard on ESPN the other day that Boise State turned down a home and home with three SEC teams and an ACC team. Saw on College Football Live, they had Herbie on there talking about it and you could tell his Boise loving butt was sad and disappointed lol.

Seeing a game against Notre Dame seems to always be at the top of these type lists. I'd love to see that game, especially if they ever get back to being a national power (which I think they will...but that's neither here nor there)...Nebraska, Ohio State, Southern Cal, Texas and Oregon. I lived in Eugene for a few years, that'd be a fun home/away series.

Heck, I don't think it gets much better than our next game, against Michigan in Dallas. Great tradition from both programs. I've been to an Ohio State/Michigan game in Columbus...I can't stand the Buckeyes just like most other fans, but their game day atmosphere is up there with some of the best.

I'm with Terry on this.

We will never rid ourselves of conference games, regular opponents played in the same home-n-home rotation.

Likewise, we will continue to schedule single visits from Cupcake University because its a scheduled win that proves to be a money maker for the University and the city of Tuscaloosa. Everyone needs cupcakes.

Of the games that are left, Home-n-Homes series with interesting OOC teams will have a hard time competing the the Bowl-like paydays that schools get early season trips nuetral site showcase games. These games offer a fat pay check, guarenteed prime time TV exposure, a chance to pay in a market (that is not the home market of the opponent), and ease of scheduling because it is one-and-done.

I too think that the era of home and home series with a big name OOC team is dead like the dinosaur. I wouldn't mind seeing that early neutral site game in the GA Dome or in the Jerry Dome be against someone like ND, USC, or Ohio State. I doubt that Urban would sign up for that game though. He hasn't gotten over that last azz whipping yet!!

We've got Michigan State and Georgia Tech right now for home and home games. The last one is at GT in 2020. This series has been postponed once, possibly twice? Michigan State is '16 and '17 (away.)

We're scheduled in Dallas, ATL against Va. Tech again, and then ATL one more time. The 2014 opponent at the Chick-fil-A game is TBA.

I wouldn't be shocked, in the least, if that series with Georgia Tech never happens. (I saw something about the NCAA sniffing around again yesterday...they may be in for a sudden downturn.)

With the way that we have been recruiting in Virginia and the D.C. area, I'd like to see a game in Washington. It could be a SEC/ACC or Big East game, we would play in the local market for all those recruits that we continue to pull, and the President could then come see us instead of us crashing his house all the time. Seriously, when the Secret Service just keeps the clearance equivelant of a running bar tab on you for you next visit, you are seriously good.

The days of seeing high quality OOC opponents is ovah thanks to expansion... so I'll say I just want to play Tulane in New Orleans every once and a while (and not in their new stadium). Think of our game with Duke, sorta.

True, if they had expanded the conference schedule when they expanded the conference. With the 8 game conference schedule, the SEC, just as last year, is playing the same number of OOC games as they are conference games. 48 and 48 last year. 56 and 56 this year. The SEC now has TV complaining about not having enough good conference games to show, and the issue of perhaps having to do away with some cross divisional rivalry games. Both issues would be moot with a 9 game conference schedule. Silly to call yourself a conference and play the same number of OOC games as you do conference games.

So, back to the OP, what I would like to see is one less OOC game, and the one less is the asinine games with 1AA schools.

I lived in boise 18 years of my life i hate boise st fans because of how they think they could roll through any schedule, but then they decline 3 sec teams with a home and home. all bsu fans do is complain, i honestly think they are the worst fans in sports

They can't. It's getting close to the point it's their only option if they want to stay within the FBS (in terms of opponents.)

If the rules are the same, you can play two FCS teams in a season and still be bowl eligible. But, you can only do that one year and get in with seven wins. If you only have seven wins and play back to back seasons against two FCS teams you wouldn't get a bowl invite. You'd have to win eight or more to qualify.

I'm not suggesting that might happen with Arkansas even though they played two FCS teams last season. Did Rutgers play two? Do they already have two in this years schedule? Arkansas just has one right now.

Time is getting short...

I like the idea of the extravaganza season openers too. Not sure that we will see home and home like we've done over the years with Penn State any more. I think there is a fairly good possibility that the SEC will go to nine conference games at some point just to preserve games like Ala/Tn, Aub/Ga. That would further limit OOC possibilities. I have wondered more than once if the indianapolis folks will sponsor a season opener extravaganza as well.
