Only one thing changed for Alabama Tuesday night ā the order of the teams ranked behind them.
To the surprise of no one, the Tide remained No. 1 in the new College Football Playoff rankings, which were released Tuesday night.
The only notable change for Alabama? Last week, Texas A&M was No. 4. The Tide finishing the season No. 1 and the Aggies finishing No. 4 would have created an Alabama-Texas A&M rematch in the Playoff semifinals. However, the Aggies dropped out of that spot after losing to unranked Mississippi State on Saturday. Washington is the new No. 4.
That means it will be Alabama-Washington in the Playoff semifinals if everything remains the same and both teams finish in these same spots.
The Huskies are 9-0 after a 66-27 win over California on Saturday.
Also of note for the Tide is that Auburn remained No. 9 after beating Vanderbilt, 23-16, on Saturday.
Alabama plays Auburn Nov. 26 in Tuscaloosa.
Clemson is still No. 2. Michigan is still No. 3.
