šŸˆ What do you think Alabama fans would consider a ā€˜normal’ season if we didn’t compare everything to the Saban era?

Hill-Green: "Schematically, they had a lot of answers. I gotta give [Curt] Cignetti his flowers. Listen, let me tell you once incidence -- they went their entire season, they loved to insert the tight end. Wherever I went, he inserted inside of me. So I was going to be wrong, regardless. I was going to be wrong on a lot of occasions. They had a lot of answers to what we did schematically. They had a lot of answers. Their running backs, like, they're the national champions."

That's not what I asked though. You're comparing to previous era.

My question was this:
What do you think Alabama fans would consider a ā€˜normal’ season if we didn’t compare everything to the Saban era?
I can read I know what you ask. It was a misinformed question. Bama fans I know do not compare everything to the Saban Era, we do not have to. Knowledgeable Bama fans know that Bama normal looks like excellence and has for a looooong time.

From a logical standpoint, 'excellence' is a subjective descriptor, not a metric. If we look at the historical record—excluding the Saban years—Alabama has had plenty of 7- and 8-win seasons over the last 40 years.

Are you suggesting that those seasons met the 'Bama Standard,' or were those years outliers? If they were outliers, then your definition of 'normal' is actually 'peak performance.' If 10+ wins is the only result you accept as 'normal,' you aren't describing a tradition; you're describing an ultimatum

Normal to me? A well coached team, smart players, who don't beat themselves, clean players who play by the rules and respect their opponents. Who work as hard in the classroom as on the field. A team that draws respect from their opponents and will know they have been in knock down drag out battle after Every game let the chips fall where they may.

Those seasons are not Bama normal. Surely you cannot say 7-5 or 8-4 is a normal Bama season. Bama is the special place that it is because they do not accept mediocrity. To do otherwise you become lthe barn or other pathetic football programs..

To try one more approach and then I will give up, it would be a team that plays with discipline, physicality, toughness, and fundamentally sound. The great teams impose their will on their opponent. The scoreboard is not the only indicator either. I have seen Bama win and still not feel like they measured up because of how they played Very few times have I seen them lose and felt like they measured up or felt good about a loss. Last years team won 10 games but I did not think they measured up because most games even the wins, they did not play with physicality and toughness.

We were always expected to be the "Top Dogs" here...Even before "The Bear" Alabama football was considered a premier football team... a Blue Blood... The Bear just set it in stone...Saban added to it...
